dravid's captainship
by dimple nahata on Feb 14, 2007 11:35 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

what is driving dravid to continue with munaf in his 7th over on the trot. this guy has just come back from injury & has been under the scanner & drawn a lot of flak for his ftness.
mreover the conditions in goa are not ideal for any bowler leave aside fast ones to bowl long spells.
he has to learn to use his bowlers & fielders judiciously to keep them in the hunt & perform well to thier potential & energy levels.

Even i've been aq fast bowler during my good old days. And what u said is absolutely correct. But believe me if Munaf bowls his quota on the trot without any further fitness issues, his selection(regardless the fitness issue)is clearly justified. Its not going to be easy though...!!!

World Cup Point System
by Samraj NS on Feb 14, 2007 11:31 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Can any one say about the point system to be followed in the world cup.

Will the Team allow to carry over the points earned in the First group stage to second stage. If so which points are to be carried out.

Pls give your feedback.

THE FIRST GROUP POINTS SHOULD NOT BE CARRIED FORWARD. BEACAUSE THEN WE CALCULATE WETHER OUR TEAM WILL REACH IN SUPER SIX/SEMIFINAL OR NOT. AND DEPENDS ON OTHER TEAMS PERFORMANCE.

How about Dhoni as wicketkeeper? If you are not satisfied, Can we think of Parthiv Patel as his replacement?

Reply must.

Parthiv is not required for current team. As already four wicketkeeper are there in the WC team viz. Dhoni, Karthik, Utthappa, Dravid and all of them are in very good form.

Selection of Indian team for world cup
by amit mahajan on Feb 14, 2007 11:26 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

selector has chosen the balance team. But i don't think keeping Laxman out of squad will help for middle order.Laxman can play his natural name on fast pitches and his experience also helps team.Sehwag is person who don't care about anyone neither of fan nor of team requirement.I don't think he wil be adding single advantage in middle order.

Narendran,

LAXMAN IS BY FAR THE BEST PLAYER WE HAVE IN INDIA. SHOW ME ONE INDIAN PLAYER WHO PLAYED LIKE HIM IN AUSTRALIA. HE IS A CLASS, JUST BECAUSE HE HAS NOT BOMBAY BASE OR A GOD FATHER HE IS KICKET OUT.
IF WE REMEMBER HE SAVED US IN MANY MANY ONE DAY MATCHES. BUT WE REMEMBER ONLY FLASHY GUYS LIKE SACHIN, SHEWAG OR DHONI.

HE SHOULD BE THERE IN THE TEAM IN STEAD OF PATHAAN. PATHAN IS NO USE I FEEL BECAUSE HIS BOWLING IS SLOW AND BATTING IS UNRELIABLE. SO DUDE WE NEED BATSMEN LIKE LAXMAN WHO CAN CONTROL AND ALSO PLAY SHOTS LIKE AZHAR.WE ARE MISSING CLASSIC CRICKET WE WANT JUST BANG MANIACS. GUYS JUST THINK WE CAN SCORE HUNDRED RUNS IN LAST 10 OVERS IF WE HAVE WICKETS AND DHONI AND KAARTHIK AT THE END. BUT TO SAVE WICKETS AND PLAY WELL WE NEEDED LAXMAN.

I FEEL WE HAVE MORE POLITICIANS THAN TRUE PATRIOTS IN THE SELECTION COMMITTEE.

Laxman had to come in place of Dravid.
Any player in the team can show better captainship than Dravid. So we had not to think abt captainship.
Ashish Nehra had to come in place of Kumble.
If there is any chance for selectors please do it for a good result.
And this is almost guarantteed that India can not do good with the captainship of Dravid.
Wrong decission can be changed for good result,
result is more imp than decission,-pls note it.

Virendar Sehwag - Definitely a liability
by Paul Samuel on Feb 14, 2007 11:26 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sehwag is definitely a liability in the WC Team. His days are over and he can no long be his old self. At the most he can score 10 or 15 runs per innings. His recent performances will substantiate this argument. He will score a 50 in one innings and for the rest 20 or 25 innings he will score between 0 and 15. And out of the same he will get out for ZERO in atleast 5 innings. That is his class. Hence I claim that he is a liability to the Indian Team.

You don't follow the cricket closely. Do you? Sehwag is out of form for sometime now. But the few matches we won are from his contribution. Why do you thing captain and management is taking risk? They know what he is real worth of. Someone like symods for australia. they know he is not fit but are willing to the risk. And symonds doesn't score heavily in evry match. Some players have bad days (sometimes extended) but the captain and the mgmt. knows best. Have some trust.

Mr naveen,

do you know cricket or you are from delhi. Please go and read some cricket history, shewag is pure waste and waste. if performs one match and shows his arrogance to media.

he is busy building hotels, just because we had problem with opening pair he survived and also because he played few innings few YEARS AGO he survived.
NAVEEN remind me one match where shewag won us playing till the 25 over of the innings . he runs to the pavilion as if he has to lick some ONES.

Not from notrh. I guess you are right. Either he is buliding hotels are running back to pavilion. The corrupt ICC and BCCI selected him for rest of the world X! because they want rest team to lose. But for some reason, international community praised his selection!!!

You got to check your facts. I understand that he didn't play to his potential since westindies tour. but, y are you faking memory loss?

Vengee on Laxman
by CHIVUKULA KISHORE on Feb 14, 2007 11:26 AM  Permalink

I noticed in today's daily that Vengee advised Laxman to drop weight...How much sehwag has dropped,in the first place and if weight is a real constraint why did he included laxman in the WC 30 probable.... It seems Vengee is not that fair as he appears...

Use both Robin & Sehwag and see who is best
by sri vasan on Feb 14, 2007 11:26 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If we want to try Sehwag, we can use Sehwag when any opening batsman (Robin Uthappa or Saurav) got out immediately. So why do we need Karthick for this match.

Karthik is more talented than Robin..He can be fit at any place and moreover when tendulkar was struggling to get run in a pitch in South Africa he made the run making so simple..that shows his calibre
