India v Sri Lanka
by Ramdas Nayak on Feb 14, 2007 04:29 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

For all those who abused Dravid he has now proved that he is the only one player who can bring victory to India. Maharashtra and Bengal Lobbies prejudiced against South Indian bcoming captain. Let every one agree that Dravid is much better Captain than Gangulli & Tendulkar.

thats not true mr. Ramdas. Please see the statistics. And also no other indian captain can match the aggressiveness and potentiality or the great Sourav Ganguly. Dravid doesnt deserve to be Indian captain. he may be a match winner but He lacks aggresiveness and doesnt have control over his team. Ganguly too indian team to final in last world cup. Just imagine, the average age of the team that time was around 26 to 27.

Inconsistency
by Indrajit Chaudhury on Feb 14, 2007 04:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Guys and gals, don't be panic. Inclusion of Sehwag is definitely a good move despite his consistent under-performance. Look back at 1983 worldcup final, it was never our winning game, 183 in 60 overs match was really a terrible score. But we won, why? because luck favored. Inconsistency is in our gene. So, we don't really need players in form, rather should depend on players like Sehwag who might perform suddenly if luck favors. Good luck.

that's the reason We never win the game and Australia and other teams win. We Indians always believe in Luck and only Luck ( I agree may be 10% luck, but otherwise you need quality buddy).

Wow!!What a joke..I appreciate that. India won the world cup in 1983 with an excellent performance as well as courageous captaincy by Kapil. Luck favours the brave and hard work.

One Good Thing...
by Ramasubramanian Venkatesan on Feb 14, 2007 04:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

One good development is that Dhoni seems to apply himself now and play sensibly while batting. Perhaps he is concerned about his place in the team, with Dinesh Karthick breathing down his neck. Whatever the reason, it will be a big boost to the Indian middle order, if he can keep doing what he did at Baroda against Windies and at Rajkot and now at Goa against Srilankans. Wishing him all the best in the WC 2007!

Excellent observation mate. Dhoni seems to be having the nack to go in any gear according to the "road condition". He can play like typical Dravid if situation calls for or he can outplay Gilchrist in stroke play if required. Dinesh Karthik is unlucky because there is a better batsman at his spot and if he needs a spot in the team it has to be as a batsman. Well he seems to be up for the challenge! If he can manage a spot in the team as a batsman, it will be excellent for the team because Dhoni then can not afford to underperform. At the same time if karthik has to be retained in the team he too has to perform as a batsman. That leaves two batting spots sorted out!!!

future of indian cricket
by nawaz mohd on Feb 14, 2007 04:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The future of indian cricket is going to change drastically after the WC fever is vanished.
Seriously the selectors should select players based on performance and not on records.
looks like last wc for below players.
Tendulkar
Sehwag
Kumble
Ganguly ( If he can still keep scoring and not made captain again.)
Z Khan
Bhajji
agarkar

guess a new crop of player owing more responsibilty will come forward. I cannot dare to dream winning WC lest be in semis
Nawaz
