Indian Cricket
by srinivas alwala on Feb 15, 2007 10:30 AM  Permalink

Friends,
Its really heartening to see the anguish of all of us and the optimism (although a lil overboard).Maybe I am not a cricketer, but Harsha Bhogle is not too.I watch cricket even if India is not one of the playing countries.I dont think we should complain if India loses evry match by putting up a semblance of fight, let aside clinching a loss from the Jaws of victory.Atleast let us see some kind of a fight.Sport has a great entertainment value.Theaters are like barren lands when there is an important match going on.And we expect a movie to be entertaining till the end.Any sport also has the same entertainment value.
How many of all of us want India to lose without even fighting!Yesterday Srilanka was 6 for 3!Still they managed to make some 230 odd.I dont remember Indians coming up with that sort of fight back in the recent past.Have look at the first match,we lost 5 wickets in a span of 25 runs.Tendulkar/Ganguly or Dhoni shud have finished the match.
What I mean is!!If you give a closer look at world cricket, every tries to go down fighting and India wants 100 runs on the first ball we face.
And if we as spectators know atleast this much,I think it is gross insult to players if they say they dont know this.So it all boils down to BCCI's politics which takes great pride in being the major revenue generator for cricket(ICC).Only I dont know why they dont understand they will generate more revenues if India atleast fights. Please put some kind of a sense of commitment in all our players who normally play for individual glory.

Stop conflict
by Sourav Patra on Feb 15, 2007 10:06 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hello Freinds,
Everytime I found you fighting with either "Ganguly/Dravid" issue or "Shahrukh/Amitabh". I think we should behave like "Indian" not regional. Offcourse there should be debate/discussion, without which a society can't prosper. But we need healthy discussion. We are going to play in WorldCup.So we should unitedly pray for "our" team.
I know you people love your country very much, so do it man. We'll do it.
Thanks a lot.

Need of good fielders
by deleted on Feb 15, 2007 10:04 AM  Permalink

Its quite fact that our team is extremely weak in fielding.Yuvraj,Karthik and Kaif were the excellent fielders in our one day side and moreover all the three are good middle order batsmans.Instead of picking Shreesanth into the world cup squad we can select Kaif into the team since we have four seamers in side.Shreesanth is very expensive bowler and Team India is not going to put him in the last 11 in the crucial match. So it will be the best thought if Kaif have been given chance instead of Shreesanth.

Our Indian Commentators on TV
by on Feb 15, 2007 08:52 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Has anyone noticed the way Arun Lal and Atul Wasan comments on Indian players. I dont ever hear any piece of encouragement or praise. I doubt these two ex-player ever achieved any milestone during their disappointing indian cricket career. I see words of appreciation from other non-indian commentators. Extremely disappointing.

Absolutely right, arun lal, atul wasan, never did any thing glorious for the indian team. I cant recollect a single match winning performance from them and now they sit up there in the box and comment on our players. Who the hell gives them such jobs and why does everyone take shit in this country? Charu sharma as well should be noted, who is he? and when did he ever play for India?? what gives him the right to talk about cricket strategies? He is such a loser..

Ideal combo
by sudhan nagarajan on Feb 15, 2007 04:45 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I guess the best way to handle the team combo is to have Robin and Saurav as openers, Rahul,Sachin and Sehwag/Yuvraj as middle order and Dhoni, Kartik after that. Three seamers and one spinner is fine. Sehwag and Yuvraj can be alternated in the league games and among the two the better performer can be given more chances in the super 8. I am sure Sehwag will be kicked out that way. Among the bowlers, Sreesanth and Pathan should get some opportunities in the league games to get into rhythm. This is the only solution I can think of.

both sehwag and yuvraj can come late tail order... i.e. 10 down and 11 down

I think Yuvraj was in good touch in third ODI. Its difficult to play shots when the pitch has uneven bounce. I think we are getting too much on him and so is the media

Then please ask BCCI get suitable sites to each and every player before they come on to play. If cannot play on Uneven bounce, better they rest and play gully cricket.

No one denied yuvaraj because he is a match winning player for the side like Micheal Bevan for Australia in the past.Hey guys just think about sachin and what he did for the team for the past 1 year and think about whether he is neccesary for the WC squad????????

he can change his game. I was amazed. WOW. Just amazing. He is much better than Tendulkar ever was or any other player. He can be the wall and be the hitter. Amazing Maturity

Its a pity that memories are shortlived. Sachin is a kind of player who can take a team like ours almost single-handedly into the previous world cup finals. I agree that Dhoni is a very mature player, but it is very immature to state that he is better than Sachin. Dont forget that not long ago most Indians would switch off their tv when Sachin got out. Fans like us mercilessly demand so much from one great man and then after so many years of relishing his dominance, we shatter his image by making bizarre comparisons. Thats a shame.

Well,is it hard to beleive that after 30 years of government service we ask people to retire!
I do agree that Sachin is a great bat.Previously Sachin was a challenge to any bowler, today,he gives his wicket to any one.He is no more playing his natural game.No body will comment if any one fails for just one match. It is true that Sachin gave us chance to come to finlas of the last world cup.And then fails when it really matters....No I am not sayng that Sachin only shud have played and won. What I am saying is if you attribute India's success only to Sachin, then you are in soup...you have to attribute team's failure also to Sachin.

Whats the Big Idea?

Whats the Big idea in choosing Sehwag to Open instead of Robin Utthapha?

Dravid is very biased and this shows very bad miscalculation.

Dravid Greg Chappel Dilip Vensirgar = Don Quoxite & Co.

Sehwag should himself gracefully retire before world cup starts and probably join Robin Singh in playing for seniors.

Atleast Sehwag got some support from the captain, but in Dada's case captain himself into trouble.. he became a scapegoat... be happy atleast WC team is not going under More's selecton.

coz they want to see if he can perform. if he did he would have found a place in 11. they don't care if they loose now but they would hate to loose in the WC. Robin Utthapa is a newbie and can crack under pressure.
