Agarkar
Pathan

Spinners - pick 1 0r 2

Hey man, from which place r u? India or outside? If from India then stop your team making and if u r from outside India, then dont ever post another letter in this forum on this forum...Have u ever touched a cricket bat with your hands? What r u trying to prove by saying not to include Sourav? We should send a team which should not have the ability to win -- right??? And Yuvraj: did u write his name by mistake at the end of your message?? If so then ok... But u should not have written Yuvraj's name. It would have given us another point to abuse you.... Ha ha ha...

You man ... bad luck to you ... Comeback King
Sourav will continue to shine in Indian Cricket... You cannot stop...

It came to evident that you are not a good selector but i hope you are good -----.

You want to drop Ganguly, the most performing nowadays and play 2 wicket keepers and 5 bowlers and 4 batsmans among which yuvraj is not close to his earlier fitness.

Indian as lost to Srilanka 'B' Team. There is no Vass, No Murali. Sack Sehwag from team and Dravid from captaincy. Such a small country Srilanka produce great players. It is just as off one state of India. We being 100 crore population cannot produce good players. Shame to Indian Selectors and Indian players.

my 15 for the WC
by jay kay on Feb 11, 2007 08:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

here goes:

1> Robin Uthappa (surprise package, attacking, can defend, fielding, youth)
2> Saurav Ganguly (Mr. Elegant, Mr. Passionate, leader, automatic choice)
3> Sachin Tendulkar (the King, automatic)
4> Yuvraj Singh (proven match-winner, electric fielder, a few overs)
5> Rahul Dravid (dependable, automatic)
6> Virender Sehwag (on his day alone can take a match away, off-spin)
7> MS Dhoni (keeper, destructive, automatic)
8> Harbhajan Singh (India's best ODI spinner, can bat sometimes)
9> Zaheer Khan (pace spearhead, automatic)
10> Sreeshanth (wicket-taker, sometimes goes for runs but is a capable guy)
11> Munaf Patel (if fit, he is automatic)

that leaves four others to be there:
12> Ajit Agarkar (could make it to the main team also, if Sreeshanth continues bleeding runs)
13> Anil Kumble (makes a lot of sense to carry this great bowler around)
14> Dinesh Karthik (pretty steady batsman who can be quite handy, very good fielder, reserve wicket-keeper)
15> Irfan Pathan (hope he rediscovers some form)

just missed out:
* Dinesh Mongia (very unlucky to miss out, he should have been in the 15)
* VVS Laxman (would have been in my 15, to prop up the batting, since Yuvi still doubtful)
* Suresh Raina (ok with the bat, great fielding)
* Romesh Powar (could be in, if Kumble was not there)

Cheers,
Jay

Jay kay... Very good analysis.
Hope BCCI gets ur message. Though Saurav is a better captain compared to Dravid, but we shud now support Dravid fully. anyway Saurav at least needs some "time" to put his views in, and that time is very very limited, if at all it is there.
The damage has been done already by the KIRAN-CHAPPEL duo.

Dravid Army
by Indra Sengupta on Feb 11, 2007 08:34 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sehwag out Manoj Tiwari in
Kumble out Ranadeb in
Harbhajan out spinner Viru in
Tendulkar is turning the ball why bother about leg spinner Kumble who can neithr hit sixes or fours.
Keep him for tests.
Rahul should look confident.
His appeared so tense and nervous.

Indra,
I was reading ur messages .
u are fighting really hard for ranadeb and Tiwary and rightly so, both of them deserve a place in this Indian team.
But as the team has been more or less fixed I don't see any chance for them in this World cup. Inspite of their brilliant performances they have been ignored, and don't think our voice could reach the selectors in this 11th hour.
But good luck to u.

Thanks.
Believe me, I write what I feel.
I feel the absence of Kaif, Laxman as well.
If selectors do not give chances to the budding talents and experienced campaigners like Luxman and Kaif our future is bleak.
Rainas and Sreesanths have patches of brilliance but Tewari and Manoj are consistent performers.
If Tewari and Manoj are not rewarded, they might not hold their form for a long time and might be diappointed and lost into oblivion.

Opening pair for India
by Kaushik Basu on Feb 11, 2007 08:26 PM  Permalink

7205 - The number of runs added together by Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, the highest by any pair in ODIs. They average 47.40 per stand, while the 100 they added at Rajkot was their 21st century partnership.

Does that means anything? It appears to be the best opening pair.
