Why SO MUCH obsession for cricket
by VAK Mumbai on Feb 11, 2007 06:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is disgusting to note that the public at large and the media is so obsessed with ONLY cricket and still we are NOT world no !. So much hours are wasted in listening and watching the game and there is NO benefit for the common man.

The government and media is to blame for pampering the game and making the players demi-gods.

How and why TEAM India only and only refers to Cricket team.

No body calls Anjali, Rajyavardhan Rathore and Gagan Narag have brought SO MUCH of laurels BUT they are not projected or applauded BOTH by the public and the media.

Indian women's hockey team too performed brilliantly but the media shamelessly boycotted them.

Its time we spit on the cricketers faces and shun them.
The real games where the

They perform once in awhile to do India proud. At least our cricket team has made us proud many times. we can't forget we were world champions in Prudential Cup.

Not to worry

It was just like a warm up match with so many people we count on were missing, but we should be happy that we put a good effort.

We did not put any great effort. We were simply watching the defeat on our television sets.

India Snatched the defeat from jaws of victory
by chemi forward on Feb 11, 2007 06:45 PM  Permalink

Once again our great Indian team have snatched the defeat from the jaws of victory. We are finding it so difficult to chase the moderate targets on a batting pitch against the team which is playing without their two prime bowlers (Vaas & Murlidharan). What we can expect from this team in a world cup? Rahul Dravid is going through a lean patch and his leadership qualities are not praiseworthy either. He should have bring Munaf Patel early so that he could have bowled his quota of 10 overs instead of persisting with Anil Kumble, who gave away 16 runs in one of his overs. Dhoni played well as per the situation, but in between he should have played his shots instead of getting too cautios. It will be a miracle if India can reach atleast semifinals in world cup. But i still wish them a good luck for rest of the series and the upcoming World Cup.

Regards
Muqeem

Dravid's Army of Mediocres
by Indra Sengupta on Feb 11, 2007 06:39 PM  Permalink

The hollow middle order was adequately exposed. The absence of players like Laxman Yuvraj and Kaif was badly felt.
If Dravid is bent upon keeping Viru then let him be selected as an off spinner in place of Habhajan.
Let Kumles place betaken by pacer Ranadeb.

world cup selection.
by valsan poduval on Feb 11, 2007 06:37 PM  Permalink

we should keep one or two all rounders. atleast train 2 bowlers to score 20 runs.dont forget to include sreesanth for the world cup. he is an aggressive bowler. avoid shewag and kumle this time. sachin and saurav are superb.
all the best. selectors should open their eyes and evaluate totally before the final selection.

ALL THE BEST TEAM INDIA...TRY BETTER NEXT TIME...ITS EASY TO SIT ON OUR DESKTOPS AND ANNOUNCE THE NEGATIVE CREDENTIALS OF OUR TEAM.REMEMBER,THE PLAYING 11 CAPPED PLAYERS ARE THE BEST CRICKETERS AMONGST THE ONE BILLION INDIANS.WE DONT HAVE ANY OPTION, IF ANYBODY FEELS THEY ARE NOT BEING JUSTIFIED,THEN THEY SHOULD PRACTISE REAL HARD AND GET AN INDIAN CAP TO PLAY FOR THE COUNTRY.IF ONE REALLY CANT DO THAT, THEN HE MUST SUPPORT THE TEAM IN GOOD AND BAD ALIKE.ITS NOT WISE ENOUGH FOR AUDIENCE TO ENJOY THE GOOD EVENING AND CRITISIZE THE BAD DAY ENDS. I REALLY PITY THE AUDIENCE MEMORY,TILL COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO GANGULY WAS A THORN IN THEIR FLESH AND WITH FEW GOOD KNOCKS HE BECAME A HERO.SAME WITH EVERY OTHER CRICKETER,I SUGGEST WE SHOULD SUPPORT OUR TEAM INDIA IN GOOD AND BAD PHASE ALIKE.DONT PELT STONES AT THEM IF THEY LOOSE, PELT FLOWERS OF GOOD WISHES AT GODS FEET TO HELP THEM BETTER THEIR PERFORMANCES...
