i think ICL must also have a quota of players in the team.these bunch of jockers from BCCI will do nothing to cricket.they opened IPL only after threat from ICL.if a person has interest in cricket why should he copy others idea why cant he do it on his own
There must be something very important with that job. Why is Vengsarkar still there after such humiliation? He complained about losing money so much, but this cunning fox is still clinging to that job meeting Sharad Pawar and shamelessly calling him sir, sir, like it was published in the media itself. If Vengsarkar did not get something out of this job he would have quit like he threatened to do a month ago. BCCI (run by crooks no doubt) knows this, otherwise they would have paid the selectors a full time salary. The selectors are certainly making money from other sources. Why will they work for nothing?
BCCI is an ordinary society under Societies Reg. Act; It is no-profit no-loss org. and cant give salary to anyone lawfully. Now a days it has become a GANG and obviously it will play dictats. All the Members are there to enjoy life and create a MAFIOSI FIEFDOM . Whatever they preach are all BOGUS and their only objective is to maintain monopoly and encourage DALALI in all forms all over.......most members are nothing but CHAPLOOS sycophants and greedy people.CRICKET is just a bahana or EXCUSE for their SURVIVAL.
what will vengsarkar do? will he swallow his pride and continue--why is he forgoing 40 lakhs PA and getting humiliated? There is something fishy? My feeling is that player agencies etc must be having some understanding with selectors--other wise why stick on esp after craeting such a ruckus?
I dont think selectors should be paid anything other than basic salary. They are anyway compensated for actual expesnes like traveling, boarding, lodging etc.
My point is this should be a privelged job to select players for your country.. Why on earth should anyone pay huge money to do that. After all how much skills is requred for this job..

I am surprised to hear this comment. In this professional age nothing comes for free. Even if they are compensated for the travel at actual expenses what about the time they devote in seeing those matches. If they are not compensated for that why should they work. They would rather work at a place where they can earn money. By not paying them and then on top of that curtailing their other activities is worse than what the Britishers did to us.
You would say this is an honorary position. Then I have one question, why should this be voluntary service. They are selecting a team of players who are getting fat pays for their appearance in these cricket matches. So when the players and coaches are paid for their services why not the selectors?
Now coming to the competency for this job. I don't think this job can be done by anyone. It requires a basic competency of atleast playing first class cricket which at least I don't have and with respect to you guys I won't comment on it because I don't know from which wood you come from and what worthwhile deeds you have done in your life for cricket.
Finally, BCCI has hunderd thousand dollars to attract overseas players for its pet project IPL but it does not have a few thousand rupees to spare for its selectors who are performing a job just like the players and coaches. This a very bad situation but whats pathetic is , there are some guys who support this move.
