Just look around and we will see that it is true. There have been so few sporting achievements since 15Aug1947. India as a sporting nation has been a complete failure more so when you consider that there are more than 1 billion Indians on this planet. India in particular and South Asia in general is a pathetic place - for sports and also for evrything else.
I have read few of the things written about captain and coach. I would like to add few things to this. If captain and Coach have to be removed the whole selection committee has to be changed. Right now we are in such frame of mind no coach or Captain can change the mind state of Indian Cricket Team. We have to apply same rules throughout the team. If Ganguly is out on performance basis then Sehwag and Raina should be also out. But pity with Indian Cricket we don't have enough backing talent in India. It's a Pity for us the country which population of 100 crore is not able find 11 gem of players that shows the politics of Indian Cricket. What Chappel is doing in a way right He is creating backup talent. All the domestic players do perform in domestic level but when they moved up ladder they find it difficult to cope up with international standards. So my message don't change other than non-performing players. The coach and Captain play with the team which has been provided to them, they don't have a say in selection committee. We need to introspect ourselves bringing back old war horses does not fulfill our requirements.
1. I think Greg Chapell is doing a tremendous job as India coach. If at all anybody is to be blamed for recent it is our players. They are the ones who have to perform on the field. The coach can't come out and do the job himself.
2. Secondly, on reading/watching recent articles and reports in the media it would appear that the media has been strongly motivated to get rid of our 'gora' coach. (Incidentally this gora vs indian business is a good way to get rid of unnecessary foreign competition so that our cricketing fraternity need not share the boards wealth with foreigners.)
After the poor show of Team India against Australia in the Champions Trophy, the Board must terminate the contract of the coach (if board need to pay the contract money it should). Indian team is not a laboratory to carry out experiments. Unless the position of a batsman to bat is fixed he can't proform his duty. A captain is a puppet to a coach as usual. We must learn lesson from the past 15 months after the new coach Greg has taken over. He is never unhappy because he is being paid wheather India wins or losses. A suggestion to Board :- Let us make the contract of the players depending on the match result. If they win 80% of the matches they play, they get paid 100% and for each loss they get match fees deducted by 3%. unless u put penalty, Team India will not do well.

Has Raina ever won a match or given an exellent perfomrance in his last 33 ODIs? When was last time Kaif did win match for India (The last one was in the Natwest Final in 2003.)
Please can someone tell us why they are still in the team?
We miss the agrressiveness of Sourav. A meek and a dummy of a captain is something we should do away with instantly if we are to succeed. Rahul may be a good batsman, but certainly not the type of captain India needs. And finally, these blokes should stop modelling and become players.
The GREG CHAPPEL and The RAHUL DRAVID should be CHANGED IMMDLY or else we will see such more defeats and series loose till these people are there to lead the INDIAN CRICKET TEAM.
Stop trying all bullshit experimentations! Greg it's high time. We have immense potential let's utilise them. Our team's morale is at all time low, if it continues, sorry World Cup 2007 is doubtful.
