I, too, used to think that we should avoid knee-jerk reactions. But this sort of failure is recurring too frequently. I think we should begin the process of rebuilding the team seriously. Focus should be on skill/talent as well as commitment and fitness.
To begin with, forget about winning the world cup. We are not going to do it anyway. Get rid of players who are in the team purley on past glory. Get rid of Sachin and Sehwag. Get rid of Greg who has turned out to be highly disruptive. Retain Rahul as captain but make either Yuvi or Dhoni a very active vice captain. Non-performers like Irfan should be dropped.
Then we would be making a real start towards building a good team
The only way India can be world beaters is if we have only the Captain and Vice Captain selecting the squad.
We are never going to be World beaters if the Zonal policy continues where each Zonal Selector selects his own Zones players.
We have to think INDIA not East, North or South. There could be all 16 players from the same Zone.
The selection commitee should consist of ex-test and One Day players. Only and ex-One day player of repute should pick the One day Team. The same rule should apply for Test team selectors.
The elected Selectors should all sit together and pick the 16 BEST players in the country for the two different forms of the game, with different Captains as well.
After this the Captain and Vice Captain should have the option of making ANY change in the final 16.
The FINAL say should be with the Captain and Vice Captain.
So, first select a Captain and Vice Captain and then the rest fall in place.
Also, a player selected in either squad should be given 10 matches of either form and then retained OR dispensed with. This rule should apply to all players new or old.India is a huge country with hundreds of players.
i feel chappel has destroyed the indian team and dravid is just a dummy captain and tendulakr the biggest politician. I feel we should bring back ganguly as captain and laxman and dropp tendulkar and dravid. We should appoint a coach who is indian. I feel we have best playres like gavaskar, shastri, azar who can be good coaches.
Team India crashed out in champions trophy really hurts ndian fans.So many seggestion are comming about droping out Sachin and Sehwag.But these seggestion contains more emotion than logic as Team India lost the match.Sachin is main pillar of Indian Team now and without sachin and veeru team look like handicaped tiger.Right now there is no player in india who can take place of Sachin.Rahul is also good caption at this moment.Bringing back sourav as a caption is totally hopeless seggestion.Only thing india lacks is they are not capitalise well their potential and some what lack in killing instinct.

If you want to be a world beater, you should perform or else you should quit.I think if this is the situation in the next world cup even we are behind the bangaladesh,zimbabwe and kenya.I think we should bring back ganguly very badly as a captain to lead the team. Please I request Mr.Vengsarkar to please look into the matter and try not to do any experiments in the future with the useless guy.Plese show him the door as he has not shown any result. Australian coach is not a cricketer,see how for name sake he is only a coach and rest of the thing is performed by the players.
I think stop the experiment & cool down the coach & captain.lots of experiments, lost the matchs. I think not team efforts between coach & team.I think the time are come to the change the team, but player are not support the coach. coach chappel are really do the good work but after player are playing the matches.finally player are understand the situation, not misktake of chappel, mistake is player they are not very well performance in the last matches.
It is high time that we get ganguly back in the team. He is the only real MAN around. He could get the team back to be focussed to win. But BCCI wouldnt like it for their EGO.
Its anyway time to make some one else a new captain, get a new coach who is indian and get ganguly back as a key player in team,
