India was much better under Saurav
by Shekhar Panandiker on Nov 09, 2006 11:13 AM  Permalink

Team India was definitely much better under Saurav.
He was aggressive, forceful and more over a successful captain. India managed to achieve quite a lot under Saurav. They reached quite a lot semi -finals & finals and even managed to win a few if not all. Rahul on the other hand is too mild to be a captain. He might be a gentleman, but mind you, cricket is no longer a gentlemans game. The rules have changed and the competition has become brutally fierce. And as the saying goes, when the going gets tough only the tough gets going. And team India cn become tough only under an equally aggressive and assertive captain. But alas right now we have a dummy captain who cannot even have his say! So forget of becoming assertive. Team India right now is a set of guniea pigs under going experiments in Dr. Greg's lab. Hope Greg as non playing captain is able to churn abour the winning combination or else please get Saurav back as a tea, leader. On a second thought, if Saurav was made to sit out beacuse of his poor batting then why not replace Greg with Saurav? Anyway Greg, right now, is also a non playing captain.Hai koi jawab.........????????

Saurav, Wright was better than Dravid, Chappell
by Vinod Kumar on Nov 09, 2006 11:10 AM  Permalink

Its no doubt Saurav-Wright was far better than Dravid-Chappell combination. Though Saurav-Wright has their own problems but it was much better than this present combination. Greg, though is coaching Indian team but he is doing it in a Aussie style. Perhpas he is forgeting that he is in India and coaching an Indian team. Perhaps his kangaroo style wont work. He has suit himself according to Indian style and make it work. And as far as Dravid is concerned, he is no doubt a world class batsman but not a good leader. He succumbs to pressure from coach and others. And this is being reflected in his batting recently.

team india , can be world beaters
by sunil kariwala on Nov 08, 2006 08:12 PM  Permalink

Having watched and followed Indian cricket teams performance over the years, it is seen that indian team lacks the sincereity and the dedication to win consistently.
whenever there is a new person introduced he performs at his best only for a limited period , the moment he feels his place is secured , he takes things lightly.
i believe the excess of money they receive by sponsorship is the culprit,
take rahul dravid , his record initially as captain was outstanding, , now i think they donot seem to exploit or study the strengths and weakness of the opposition player, atleast it is not evident .
i also believe there is tendency to close ranks , a new player is not welcome atleast a batsmen if he does not fit/gel within the core group as acompanion.
a new player whois able to make good raport with the core group survives even after medicore performance, but with a similiar performance a loner will find himself out of team.
that is why u will find certain players who do exceptionally wel in domestic cricket are selected for a tour but do not get enough oppourunities, are droped after 1 or 2 games , whereas someone like rainna kaif, yuvraj were given more chances.

Dont do too much experiment with the batting order
by rajeev on Nov 08, 2006 05:04 PM  Permalink

look There is no prob at all with the coach in fact he is the best among other indian coaches bcoz these forigners are more perfect in terms of management. the only prob what i think is too much suffling with the batting order there are certain players whose batting slot to be fixed only one or two player shall suffle around those who are capable of the things like Dhoni and irfan but it would be when it needs most otherwise keep the batting slot same in every match and you will get the results of ur own.

according to me batting order should be like:

1. Sachin

2. Sehwag

3. Ganguly(If yuvraj unfits for the world cup)

4. Dravid

5. pathan

6. Dhoni

7. Kaif

8. Harbhajan

9. Agarkar

10.Munaf

11. Balaji

Consistency is the Key
by Gaurav Saxena on Nov 08, 2006 02:41 PM  Permalink

If India has to come even close to what Australia has acheieved in the recent times it would certainly require more than a Australian coach. Indian batters need to show more urge for consistency. People like Sehwag should understand one thing clearly that consisteny is the key.

To improve indian team.
by raghu on Nov 08, 2006 02:30 PM  Permalink

Hello.

I think team india is facing short of allrounders, beliving some young players for long periods to perform them well.

What i suggest is bring back Robin Uttapa becz he is performing well and now is in form, a good fielder and an average medium fast bowler.

world cup winning team
by prasanna on Nov 08, 2006 09:57 AM  Permalink

when there is a match against aussies what is going on in every ones mind is how we are going to beat aussies. There is no need to worry about it bcoz we have plenty of good players like sachin, shewag, rahul and one more thing why sourav is not in the team. As far as pressure is concerned experience is going to be the key.In my opion the key is squad.
