Sparkless Bowling Performance
by Abhijit M on Oct 30, 2006 05:34 PM  Permalink

Their was no contest to start with as Australia is the strongest of two sides.

The formadible batting lineup failed in the entire tournament but for the crunch game.

Looking at the crucial knockout encounter the score of 250 was defendable only with some good aggressive bowling

Sreesanth displayed how the decision of dropping him was entirely wrong. He should have been in the team at first place.

What was disapponiting to see was the way Harbhajan bowled, who should have taken more onus of getting wicket and seeing India through

Munaf Patel is good with his accuracy till the crunch match, but waveward bowling performance in the pressure match shown his disabilities to perform when required What more to add was very atrocious fielding .The reason why Kumbale and VVS been kept out is lack of effectiveness in the field, but looking at Munaf they(Kumbale, VVS)are light years ahead. No body should take granted for their place in the side only on batting or bowling . Fielding is an imporatnt aspect in todays competative cricket

Look at the commitment by Glenn Macgrath at the age of 37. Munaf gave away 61 in 8.4 overs but due to poor fielding he gave away another 15 runs

How to make India world-beaters?
by Arvinda Sharan on Oct 30, 2006 05:33 PM  Permalink

Dravid is a gentle man, that doesn't mean that he should be the Captain. We need a person like Ganguly instead.

Spourav is the ''LETS Look at the FUTURE''
by Mohammed on Oct 30, 2006 05:32 PM  Permalink

In Most of the messages posted by the readers, They still opt for Sourav -- But its sad that he has been out of Form for a long time, even now in the CHALLENGER TROPHY he was not able to suceed. Where as \\\\\\\"THE WALL\\\\\\\" Dravid as captain is for sure will be sucessfull. It all depends up on the rest of the team players as to take a fair stance to support the team. Who ever does not perform well should be dropped and replaced with the worthy ones. Then only INDIA CAN START ITS WINNING STREAK.

How to make India world-beaters?
by Sanjay Ray on Oct 30, 2006 05:32 PM  Permalink

Indian cricket sucks, not because of the players' performance, but for the politics involved in it. The selectors behave like politicians, and why not? Being the national obsession of a country of 1 billion, there is a lot in stake. We will keep on breaking our heads on who should be the captain and so forth, and some people will keep on making money. Its all about money, is'int it?

Can India become World beaters
by Sachin Pathak on Oct 30, 2006 05:27 PM  Permalink

I think it is all about attitude, from yesterday's match I am trully disappointed there is no professional approach from this side. They are not carrying right attitude.

I Don't think India can ever become world beaters for a longer period of time because they believe in miracle which happens rarely.

You cannot make they should be born
by Bharath on Oct 30, 2006 05:22 PM  Permalink

You cannot make a team world beaters. It should be in their psche. To ask for India beating australia is a big thing. Aussies are hardened sports people whose sporting culture is a way of life. Indians are not warrior like people and that is why our country has been repeatedly ravaged by invaders. We are mostly materialistic people who do not care much for the nationalism. As long as we meet cultures similar to us (Srilanka) or a under quality team like england we will win. But otherwise we will lose. It is not easy to change it. India can only win in games like chess. Even in cricket which does not have much physical contact we lose. It is a pity

How to Make India World Beaters?
by Abdul Wadood on Oct 30, 2006 05:20 PM  Permalink

To become a world beaters you need to think your are one. Which is always missing in India when they come across Australia(any other good team). We do have ammunition but we do not have ambition. Some basics needs to be taken care.

1. Team Selection: Who are in form and preforming need to be kept in the squad. Powar was bowling well and was among wickets he was not in the squad.

2. Fielding: If you are not good in this department you can never never be world beaters. Even at the age of 37 McGrat is commits him self. Our young team apart from one or two they don't even know how to run.

3. Batting: All big names you want me name them i don't think so. Have not performed in crucial matches. Where as Ricky Pointing going through a lean patch performs. So who is number one.

4. Bowling: Depending to much on youngsters who either get over excited or over enthu. Which is what happen with Munaf.

As Dravid said need to Perform to Win matches.

Too many mineral water carriers in the team.
by Dennis Christie on Oct 30, 2006 05:16 PM  Permalink

1. The humiliation of being knocked out in the 1st round of Champions Trophy at home.
2. The pathetic display in DLF Cup in Kuala Lumpur.
3. The 1-4 thumping in the Caribbean.

Everything is wrong with this current Indian team and the team's performances in the last three ODI meets have been shameful and appalling.

Greg Chappell and Rahul Dravid have been hardselling their World Cup dream for a year now, but there are few takers currently.

The team has too many mineral water carriers in Suresh Raina, Mohammed Kaif, Dinesh Mongia among others who should be replaced by the World Class performers and matchwinners like Ganguly and Laxman before the World Cup. Then only Indian batting will have some semblance of a world class look and feel. Rahul Dravid has been appointed as captain till 2007 World Cup as coach Greg Chappell. Hence nothing much can be done about them till the World Cup. A most likely World Cup disaster will automatically bring a full stop to their careers as Indian captain and coach.

team india
by Col L S Chadha on Oct 30, 2006 05:14 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir,

I feel that as a sporting nation we are no where in the world, we produce one odd sports figure who excels may be once in a decade. We have no sports policies which should encourage sports, make them dedicated to their field of specialization and make them accountable for their performance. Like we have in the corporate world the policy of hire and fire or perform or perish, we need some thing of this kind in all our sports. Coming to cricket the richest sports, the players lack dedication and there is just no accountability at all. Take Sehwag for instance, how long can the team afford to carry this baggage which is worth crores. He has become an unwanted baggage, sooner we put him on warning the better for team india. Take suresh raina, another baggage, he needs to be shown the door for some time till he proves his worth and earn his place back in the team. The BCCI as a policy should encourage new talent, the selection committee can not be passive observers to what is happening on the field, if there is some thing rotten happening in the selection process as brought out by Mr Kiran More then what did he do to correct it, he should have resigned right away, guts are r
