Thank you Mr. Akram for finally saying it, for all the former greats and many of my countrymen are still in denial about the shameful state of our national team. Players who showed immense potential a couple of years ago have failed to deliver, and consistently at that. Those who have performed in the past, with staggering records to prove have been sidelined. It\\\'s time to come to terms with the fact that youth alone is not the answer to creating a good team. You cannot expect someone who shows promise on the domestic level to grow on the international team. They first have to dominate consistently at the domestic level. If post-selection, a players form drops, he needs to be sent back to play for his state and sharpen his skills. We are a country of a billion for crying out loud! Is it that difficult to find 11 capable players at any given point? Sure, it\\\'s impossible to win all the time, but for a nation with such a massive cricketing history, we cannot afford to lose the way we did in South Africa, or the ICC trophy. The day India begins losing at home, the downfall of Indian cricket has begun.
i agree with everyone who says that sachin should play aggressively. but should\'nt there be a team strategy behind it. if he gets out cheaply trying to play aggressively same mr.Akram will write an article saying sachin is playing irresponsibly. it\'s easy for lara cos he does\'nt have a billion people expecting him to succeed.
As with his bowling, Mr Akram is bang on target!! Its the attitude and not the form of the players that is so pathetic. They certainly look like praying to get out of this tour...total lack of aggression. They certainly need a rude kick in the butt!!
We for some reason do not like our team being criticized. Too much of money did things in. The selection committee rely on the screen test than the actual test. The ad agency, the syndicates decide who has to be in the team. Except perhaps for Dravid, Kumble and the unfortunate dinesh kaarthick. The team needs a complete face lift. Selection of somebody like Kaif defies logic, so it can abe said of jaffer for one days.. Tendulkar has his obligation to the sporting syndicate with whom he signed a multi-million dollar contract. so it goes on,...
Sachin should change his attitude and develop killer instinct in himself. He is trying to play too safe and not achieving anything by that. He is the best guy w.r.t talent, but a change in attitude is the need of the hour.
Akram you were always my faovurite...wish we could find a talent like you in India.
What about Dravid's captaincy?....it is true if the players are not performing what the captain can do? But the question is once the opposition is 76/6 down why he did not go for a complete kill??...he let the SA batsman to play freely with semi attacking field settings and spin bowling of Sachin and harbhajan??... agreed few catches are dropped...but the question is why they should be allowed to play 50 overs first of all??
Do you think India can improve with such a defensive attitude from Indian captin??
After Asuf Iqbal, Majid Khan and Zaheer Abbas, Wasim Akram is a fine gentleman in cricket from Pakistan. Whatever he says has to be taken seriously and pondered over for the good of Indian cricket.
Hi time Sach played in his dashing style. But given Dravid is not there, perhaps Dhoni/Dinesh can be brought to open with Laxman at 3 and Sachin at 4 followed by Mongia. The only way to come up triumphs against the Springboks is to attack!!
