lara is better than the best . he is one who plays for his country rather than for records .one example of his speciality is his score of 400* only to give his team their higest test total in the test history {wi}.but unfortunately his bowlers did not fire like they did in their first innings . thus , forcing a draw .
I think if you compare three players lara is best as age and such a long time in cricket is not so easy to make such consistancy in test and one day. Sachin and Gawaskar are no doubt is one of the best in this centuary but LARA is spuerb, best Techy Player i have ever seen...
Records of these players are truly the evidence of their mastery of the art of batting. But history remembers you for the matches you rescued your team from crisis and won single handedly for your team. In that respect Brian lara and Steven waugh are the best. Whenever Aussies were down, he would come and hit a century. Even in the 4th innings, the records of these players are exemplary.
hay dude what ever u say bout the record but the writer must be appriciated for his hard work so whosoever is the writer or maker of this fantastic report i want to congratulate for this awsome and rare work of excellence....
I am a great fan of Sachin - i mean the attacking Sachin. i hear so many comparisons of sachin with lara, gavaskar, ponting ...... etc. Let me add a different view to each.
Sachin and Gavaskar - Abs no comparision, Sachin is a team man. Who can talk about a man who selfishly played 60 overs and score 36 while chasing more than 300, that too in a world cup!
Sachin and Lara - When Lara plays he is under no pressure at all, no one in the west indies wants lara to win, they just want to see him bat
Sachin and Ponting - When ponting comes out to bat, he knows even if he fails they have hussey, symonds, clarke, etc who can single handedly win matches - thats not the case with sachin.
So the truth is Sachin is a demi god and only he knows what pressure means when he comes out to bat. so sachin undoubtedly is the best. he will be back at his attacking best in the world cup for sure.
Coming to tests, Ultimately Lara is a little bit ahead than Sachin, But in case of voting from fans, Personal life and character everything Sachin crossed Lara, with his humble and noble behaviour.
Comparision of a cricketer means if it is applicable we need to compare both tests and ODIs also.
So take the overall performance of Cricket career, Except the triple and Quardraple centuries Sachin has his impact and proved he is far more than Lara. Sachin has played less number of innings if you asked me to compare the total test runs.
Comparing the three greats I feel Gavaskar is the greatest because he faced the best bowling attacks ever (against West Indies & Australia). Lara is the greatest player of the current era because without him West Indies looks a different side. Now a days I feel Dravid is performing better and is more dependable than Sachin. Let's all hope Sachin comes out of this bad patch ... Sarin
Ponting Not there yet

IMHO Ponting is not there yet for simple fact that he is yet to show is class against the worlds best spiners likes Of Murlis. And Remember Sachin and Lara have scored most of thier runs against the best bowling attacks of the likes Wals,Waqar,Wasim etc.
Although Ponting has been scoring bulk or runs he is far away from being in the race of Best Bastmen.
Also its not right to compare Lara and Sachin with Ponting with their present form , because Ponting is at the Peek of his carrier which Lara and Sachin have already passed.
So for me competition is really between Lara and Sachin , and as far as Test cricket concerned Lara is slightly ahead of the Sachin. And Sachin is well ahead of anybody else out there in One Day Cricket
