Indian Tour of South Africa
by Venugopal M.N. on Nov 16, 2006 03:38 PM  Permalink

Dear Friends,
I study psychic astrology and I have surprise prediction for you. It doesn''t matter Wanderers or Capetown India will win this one day series and Test match and will rout the South Africans and whole of India will be taken by surprise. Graeme Smiths immature captiancy will be the greatest advantage for Indians. If he continues as captain God save South Africans. So all of you rejoice in for this successful Indian tour.
bye

Ganguli ???
by Kanawal Jeet sandhu on Nov 17, 2006 07:15 AM  Permalink
Sir You will be troubling Ganguli, beacuse if you take him to play for south africa tour he will need to play fast bowling and that too bouncy tracks. Off late sparing a painfully grinding innings against Zimbave. He was a good and a Lucky player, but to put him in now does'nt look sensible. If Ganguli comes in to the team India, he should come on the merits of his good batting ( Feilding sparred ). Though Ganguli tried appriciable to put a good knock in the selection matches,he could not manage to get one good score in past 10 domestic innings. Please advocate him when he performs, not just for anything else. Even I wish he can perform something like Mohinder Amarnath style to get back into team. But Purly on performance and merit.

About the Article
by Robinson on Nov 16, 2006 12:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I don't know when Amre scored a century....but one thing for sure, If India has to win they have to bring Ganguly back......Ganguly is a key player who has scored lot of runs mainly in ODI and he is better than our Mr Dinesh Mongia and Suresh Rainas.....He will be best fitting in one down Spot....because after sewhag or sachin gets out.....Ganguly is the best player to fit in that Position..........So please bring Ganguly back and then see our Team India will change...............

Er... Robinson, why bring Ganguly back? If you'd take your head out of your arse for just a short while, you'll see that one player, especially one who has trouble playing the fast rising delivery, can't make such a difference in a team sport.

Bouncy Wickets
by vishal p mehta on Nov 16, 2006 10:48 AM  Permalink

Hi
Actually if they prepare bouncy wickets which i think they will then Indian team stands no chance.Even the classy batsmen in our team struggles with bounce not so much with swing because our batsmens record in england is descent but in southafrica and australia its dismal. So i think in test matches we stand no chanc as i m sure they will prepare bouncy wickets.

Not penetrating attack
by Hemant on Nov 16, 2006 10:17 AM  Permalink

Amre we remember scored a century on debut and was praised by Gavaskar for his batting. But he fizzled out after that.It is no secret that many of our great batsmen have performed poorly in SA in past tours and the fast bowling and fast pitches were blamed! It is true that they don't have the bowler like Alan Donald and Shaun Pollock is also at the last stage of his career. But even the present attack is good enough to create palpitation in our battesmen's heart and Ntini, Lengevelt,Pollock supported by Jack Kallis is no mean attacking bowlers. They have proved that against Australia and supported by a good fielding side under coaching of Jonty Rodes, it would not be easy scoring 250 plus against them. However, good luck ,India.

Please check your facts before commenting on articles. Amre did indeed score the hundred during India's first visit to South Africa in 2002-03.

Record against SA
by Anand S on Nov 16, 2006 12:47 AM  Permalink

For the record, no Indian batsman in the current team has a 40+ average against SA as per another rediff article. Tendulkar 30.26, Dravid 39.85, Yuvraj 38.40, Sehwag 30.90 ..... (Ganguly 53.91 is not considered).

indian performance in south africa ?
by rohan on Nov 15, 2006 11:44 PM  Permalink

All these sort of messages before the start of any series are used to create a hype about the series and our own team, which only looks a great team on paper, our indians they play for only themselves but they dont have any fighting spirit, which was evident in the chanmpions trophy. So how could you even think of india performing well in fast pitches when they cant play properly on our own soil, i think the time has come to throw out some of the big names out of the team, for example sehwag, agarkar, i dont think he is a bowler.

Indian Mice
by sandeep on Nov 15, 2006 09:35 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I guess if i was a member of a board of another country and my team was not doing well i would schedule a long series with India to get my team back in winning form. Look at WI and England. Their revival started after series with India. Bring a out of form team and make them play against India they will retain their form
