Ridiculous, yes it affects the moral of a promising player of the caliber of IRFAN PATHAN, Form is always temporary n talent is permanent , and irfan is a very very talented cricketer, soo in my opion this very very ridiculous to sent him back from South Africa,

Was it right to send Irfan back?
by Pradeep Mestry on Dec 26, 2006 12:54 PM  Permalink

I think its right,
If he is not in best of his form he has to prove it by playing in local cricket, only this way he can regain form

Sending Pathan is correct....
by Muthu on Dec 26, 2006 12:53 PM  Permalink

It is high time to take corrective measures to bring back the team in winning streak and it is exactly correct to send back the non perfromers from the team and it send a good signal to other non performers like Sehwag to perform or go back to learn the basics and come back.............

was it right to send irfan back
by happy club on Dec 26, 2006 12:50 PM  Permalink

I. Pathan was sent back on the basis of his performance in one dayers. If this is true then is it just to send only him back. What about the top order who have been collapsing like a pack of cards. If there is no fighting score put up by the top batsmen then how much can pressure can a bowler put on the opposition and how many wickets can he take. In the name of experiments first he is sent to bat in the top five then as he is settling down as a batsmen also, he is told that he is lacking the sting in his bowling, making him confused about his identity then resting him for the test matches where a bowler can really show his true callibre.Had it been that we had not won the 1st test match the same Manager Mr. Vengsarkar would have told that batsmen are not performing and then he would have rested either Sehwag or some other batsmen but would not have sent him back to India in the middle of the tour to demoralise him. I can just say sorry Irfan, it is not your present form but the reforms of the Management coupled with politics and power to show that I am somebody has made you the goat for the coming Bakri eid in India. It happens only in India.

all the best for Irfan
by anees on Dec 26, 2006 12:50 PM  Permalink

dear selectors,

you people have made life misrable for irfan, man to be blamed is only and only dravid. we accept he backed irfan too, but he failed to utilise irfan in a proper way, once irfan got hammered in his first 2 ro three overs he suddendly kept him away from bowling his remaining overs, and this is how irfan slowly lost his confidence and as of now his future is only on mercy of these so called greats. and all here knows what were the achievements of these so called greats, and not to forget irfan is the only second bowler to reach 100 quick wickets. i m proud that IRFAN is the product of INDIA only.

Was it right to send Irfan back
by Leo DSouza on Dec 26, 2006 12:50 PM  Permalink

I must say this is the right decision. Unless such decision are taken the players will take their places in the side for granted.

This also motivates domestic players to perform well inorder to prove themselves and stake a claim in the India Eleven.

It kills two birds in one shot!

I must congratulate the person whoever has taken this bold decision. There will be a lot of criticism but it should be ignored.

Was it right to send Irfan back

Why not? Better late than never. It is a good lesson at last for people who become head-weight. The same applies to even Mr. Sehwag. No morale is shattered by sending such irresponsible players. They should know by now, at last the concerned people are taking stringent action.

Pathan proved to be a better batsmen than the regular Batsmen
by zishan on Dec 26, 2006 12:49 PM  Permalink

It's another stupidiousmove made by the BCCI... they are hellbent on doing some foolish act or the other...

if pathan isnt doing well with the ball.. atleast he has proved himself a better batsmen in the current series... better than the greats like Sachin, Dravid etc.,

He would have defenitely proved to be an asset in the current conditions atleast with his bat...

One better move by BCCI is to include Dada the great..
