Still we havent started our second test, who knows who will win durban , and how do dilip vengsarkar guarentee that till third test all our Quikies will be injury free, we are always forcing on bench should be strong, 'JEET KE PROUD SE VENGI NE TO BLUNDER KAR DIYA' Pathan is promising player and i am sure they never given Irfan a chance on right pitches, every one knows what he did in karachi on a right track, recently Dravid statement is "pathan is pillar of indian team , he stand in the center of the team" now what happen to the piller, anyhow i expect Pathan like Zaheer khan will comeback quickly.

by p.thyagarajan on Dec 26, 2006 12:57 PM  Permalink

It shows we lack in converting excellent potentials to excellent performers. We donot know how to keep excellent performers achieving consistencies. Very w=rong step forward.

They know things better
by SIVA RAMA KRISHNAN on Dec 26, 2006 12:57 PM  Permalink

The Squad knows what to do better than us... There should be a valid point in what they do and there is no point in us argueing about it. We just watch them play, but how do we know whats really happening to them. So, lets just watch the show and leave the action to them...

Regards,
Siva

was it right to send back pathan
by kalyansundaram ganesh on Dec 26, 2006 12:57 PM  Permalink

I think it was alright because if a player inspite of talent needs to play more games instead of sitting in the bench.

it is a positive thinking on the part of the selection committee and will also send a very strong message to other members that talent alone will not count. The passion to perform will increase if such decisions are taken.

pathan is young and should take this as a challenge and get back his habit of taking wickets .

I hope the selectors continue with the same policy inrespect of other players.

Irfan should back
by M S Rawat on Dec 26, 2006 12:56 PM  Permalink

Yes, its right to send irfan back. He is not performing well. As an experienced player he is not on his pace just doing the formality. He has to workout more to come back.

Great..
by Swapnil on Dec 26, 2006 12:56 PM  Permalink

Pathan is great player. But unfortunately he lost his confidence. But this decision will help him to comeback in cricket. But i think commitee should take decision first against Virendra Sehwag, Jaffer then pathan.

Why not ?
by Dipankar on Dec 26, 2006 12:56 PM  Permalink

Every thing is possible in India. A successful Captain even after wining in a Foreign Tour with a century in the series can be thrown out by the iniquitous & unfair selectors stating the reason as "BAD FORM !! " of the cricketer then why not the same will be applicable for a bowler with a miserable form. We shold appreciate the decision of the Team Management & Chairman of the selection committee - it will also make other players cautious about their performance. A great player takes such thing as a challenge like Amarnath & Ganguly. Pathan has to prove his mettle now.

NO It is not correct
by S A N A Murthy on Dec 26, 2006 12:55 PM  Permalink

Ni it is not correct to send him back to India for playing ranji matches. He should get one chance to play again as he may come back to his form. As it will be helpfull for our team. Please even try Balaji paired with Irfan Pathan they both were the key players in pakistan tour who bowled well and they shared the opening balling spare.

quite a good move
by sivashankar on Dec 26, 2006 12:55 PM  Permalink

Yes, it is a move in the right direction. Ganguly played Ranji matches for quite a while when he out of the team and perhaps, is not not taking his place for granted. These kind of moves are needed to ensure that all players don't take their places for granted. This will instill a sense of fear in the mind of players which could be an invisible force that propels them to give it their best shot. Even Sehwag can be forced to play on wickets full of life so that his technique against genuine quickies is improved. After all losing is better than losing wihtout a fight!
