I Dont Think Thats Right Treatment For A Young Blower Like Irfan Who Has Shown His Credibility Over The Years. He Dont Deserve It. If can't show the same intensity with senior players like Sewage who, has largely been a failure in recent times.

Right in sending back
by Vishal Kr Prasad on Dec 26, 2006 01:03 PM  Permalink

Yes, it was a right move to be sending Pathan back. The reasons as conveyed by Rahul Dravid and Dilp Vengsarkar makes sense.Best way for a player to come out of a slump is by playing, and there was no opportunity for Pathan in the coming two tests.Playing in Ranji trophy will give him that opportunity and shall then regain confidence. Ganguly and Zaheer are prime examples.Only apprehension here is whether this motive of the concerned authority is genuine and had been made clear to Irfan. Otherwise this may shatter the confidence and belief of Irfan once and for all.

Should not have been done
by Amarta on Dec 26, 2006 01:03 PM  Permalink

This is a very wrong treatment for Irfan Phatan. He may not have been perfoming with the ball but he has been scoring runs consistently with the bat. We should start considering him as a allrounder. I mean if Flintoff fails with the ball, england dont send him back; because he will contribrute with the bat. Tell me I fell to remember when our great Sachin bhaiyaa has scored some runs in recent tests..by this yardstick even he should be send back and made to play in some ranji matches...why is jaffer not being send back..he has not scored anything on this tour..why?is this because he is from mumbai?...would our grt captain dravid go back..because i dont remember him scoring anyruns in this tour??..why only Pathan????

Was it right to send Irfan back
by T.R. Narayanan on Dec 26, 2006 01:03 PM  Permalink

According to me not because looking to the brittle batting at the top and considering the recent success in batting only becasue of his failure in bowling.
Atlease he should have been included to add strength in the batting order. It is surprising though the biggies are consistently failing no action is against is taken them. Ganguly, Laxman and Pathan are dropped. It is a bias way of functioning.

About Pathan back to India
by Nitin Kumar on Dec 26, 2006 01:02 PM  Permalink

Yes, it was the right decision to send Pathan back. If the management have decided they won\'t play him for the next two test than better we send back him home where he will play some Ranji matches and try to get his form because we don\'t have much matches before world cup and he can play a vital roll in the world cup but it all happens when he play matches which we don\'t get in South Africa.

irfan
by manguesh on Dec 26, 2006 01:02 PM  Permalink

yes. its the right decision.

reasons are as noted .

1. why spend money on a player whose not performing. afterall the game has become very commercial.

2. somebody else will get a place in teamwho is urging to perform for the country.

3.no one in future should take their positions for granted.

4. if u can treat ganguly in such a manner why not irfan and others.

5. trial and error please should be done at domestic levels. and then come to prform for the country.

6.machines can brake down , they need servicing , then why not players too.

let irfan do some homeworks . rejuvenate and come back all geared up to fire.

Irfan Pathan
by Imtiaz on Dec 26, 2006 01:01 PM  Permalink

This is a shocking news, if you will start looking at the form, what about Sehwag, Dhoni, just taking some good catches is not that the form is regained, Pathan is good with Ball as well as Bat, he should have given a fair chance in this series, this shocking move will surely shatter's his confidence.
