First of all not fair to call back such young talented player due to lose of form,it will damage his confidence a lot.If that's the case, there are some other players to be called back considering the form.
Its absolutely right to send pathan back midway through the tour. He is struggling with the bowl and he needs some match practice which team india can not afford to provide at the highest level. Now, pls dont cry abt the "players confidence getting shattered" sort of things. He gave more than 6 runs /over for a club level team. He needs to work on basics. To be frank,He is no where near to an international bowler. Dont be surpriced if pathan get into the side as a Batsmen.
I feel sorry for the young man. Just about a year back he was a deadly bowler. His nagging accuracy and snake-like swing was handful even for top batsmen in the world. He had simply mesmerised Pak team with his excellent bowling in 2004 series under Sourav and Miandad, who had dared to call him "a Galli Cricketer" and that Pak had dozens like him in their "Gallis", had to eat an humble pie at the end of the tour.
The blunder of Greg has almost finished him and has shattered his confidence. He was given the false sense that he would be a great alrounder ala Kapil! But, it was a cardinal mistake. Rahul was too meak to proect or protest. That has ended in young man's unceremonious sending back home.
But, make no mistake, he will come back. And come back stronger as a front-line bowler. That's his forte - not batting.
In all, the sending back was bizzare. The Team Mgt. should have waited till the series was over. But, all in all, Greg should have been sent packing to Austallia - not Irfan back home!
It is very much disheartening to lose a promising player like Irfan Pathan . The poor team management is totally responsible for this . Why Pathan has been chosen to make all sorts of experiments to establish him as an allrounder . The prime fault is to sent him as no. 3 batsman . To talk of any great allrounders in the world cricket like Sobers of WI , Botham of England , Imran Khan of Pakistan , Richie Benud of Australia , Heedley of NZ and our Kapil Dev , no one had ever been tried as no. 3 batsman of their team under any circumstances . I think the basic problem of Pathan that he does not know where to concentrate , as a bowler or as a batsman . He played a great innings in the practice match as a batsman(and mind it India won that match which was absolute necessary to turn around at tha juncture), then the management should consider that since he is an allrounder rather than sending him back . Another problem : since our coach was a great batsman he can convert a bowler to a batsman and not vice versa . To me he should have considered to play at least one Test match to prove himself as a bowler and put him at 6th down position as a batsman rather than sending him back .
I strongly disagree the way the BCCI reacted with pathan and send him back in middle of the series.I believe it will shatter a palyers confidence and most oftenly bring an end to players confidence until the player takes the decision in his stride and work hard to regain his place back in the team.I hope pathan is one of the palyers who will take the decision in his stride and coemback even stronger.BCCI there are still many players who are not able to do there jobs,if you try sending players half of the indian team will be here in India.
damn... he is a responsible player.. if he is not in form for his bowling.. then he atleast has the heart to support the batting line.. what r all the batsmen doing... not to name any.. r they in ther form..??? then why amongst all its PATHAN.... ridiculous.
Definitely a wrong move.Apparently a decision made by the Chairman of the Selection Committee Mr.Dilip Vengsarkar, who is now in SA.We should remember that Vengsarkar did not prove himself to be a good leader as captain of the Indian team and had to exit in rather forgettable circumstances.
