NO,ITs an unfair-a wrong decision
by vikram bhatia on Dec 26, 2006 02:28 PM  Permalink

ITs a totally wrong and a decision that is devoid of good sense. Irfan, the bowler-all rounder who till last year was Indias leading wicket taker strike bowler is being sent back to improve his form. This move on the part of touring selection committee or whosoever can have a deep adverse psychological impact on many budding young players in Indian cricket. Instead of such arbitrary decision on the eve of second test, an effort should have been made with the help of his teammates Zaheer, Kumble, Coach Greg Chappel & other senior players to iron out his deficiencies whatever that were in his bowling and could have played him in the 3rd test as he could also have made useful contribution with his batting too.

May God help INDIAN cricket. VIKRAM BHATIA,N.DELHI.

Unfair, Unfair, Unfair.................
by Jayant on Dec 26, 2006 02:27 PM  Permalink

Like Ganguly, Irfan is also a fighter. He is trying hard and everything possible to regain his form. He is batting very wel. He deserv more time. He has given everything to this game and must get another chance at the earliest.

Irfan....we are with you.

Irfan Pathan
by VISHWAS on Dec 26, 2006 02:24 PM  Permalink

It is Totally wrong Question. First of All whether Pathan was performing well as a Bowler ?. His Good Batting is a Bonus but cannot be an Asset. It is seen that whatever the CCI is douing for bringing Improvement in Individual Performances of the Players is getting criticised. Initially it was Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. There can be no doubt that both did not perform well in the matches played prior to their suspension. Now, because of the failure of the newcomers there was necessity to bring experienced players and luckily both had started performing better in the local matches. Now same treatment is given to Pathan and who knows, may be Sehwag or Wasim Jaffer to follow thereafter.
I feel, we should not be carried away by personal likes and dislikes when it is the question of National Pride.

It is not fair to send back Irfan instead veerendra Sewag should have sent back. Rahul Dravin, may be a good player but not fit for capatincy.

Was it right to send Irfan back?
by Sachin Chavan on Dec 26, 2006 02:17 PM  Permalink

I think Sehwag is the most eligible player to play
in domestic instead of international cricket.

sending back to pathan is not right move.his number should be second in this list.

sehwag is topper.

Sending back Irfan Pathan
by Rutvij A. Vaishnav on Dec 26, 2006 02:12 PM  Permalink

He needs a break to sort out issues with his bowling. Especially when there's too little time between now & World Cup, we need Pathan in form & firing in his original rhythm.

Being there in SA, out of form, predictible line & length - all this is not gonna help him in practising ahead of the World Cup.

It is infact, a vise move to send him back to local cricket to fix the problems.

Supporters should take this positively. Also, this will be a message to other non-performers that if they stil continue being complacent, they may even lose their spot for World Cup Team, given the time remaining for practice.

Was it right to send Irfan back
by Vasan.S.S on Dec 26, 2006 02:11 PM  Permalink

If players are sent back because of out of form then the board should have recalled WASIM JAFFAR, VIRENDAR SEHWAG first...... The board has to ask all non performing players to play domestic cricket once the tour end But not in the middle. This will demoralize Irfan Pathan's confidence. Player like Irfan should be in the team when u build a new team for a ONE DAY cricket especially for WORLD CUP. I strongly disagree with the way the board has taken action against IRFAN PATHAN... don't forget that he was the match winner.

Cricket Fan of India.

Pathan-The scapegoat!!!
by soumya majumdar on Dec 26, 2006 02:07 PM  Permalink

Pathan the sultan of swing!!!Pathan the allrounder!!!Pathan the batting saviour for India!!!.....and now Pathan goes back to India!!! Its being tough on the player. He has played poorly offcourse but look at our expectations from him.We have asked a bowler to bat and save india...to bowl and save india...is he a 1 man army.Atleast he is the only one to score a century in SA in this series. What about Jaffer who is playing just because of a 200 scored ages ago. What about sehwag...even the bowlers make fun of his batting these days.Sehwag was supposed to be the test master but he has failed in both forms of the game and over a long period of time now.So why is it only pathan sent back.

I think it was a very bold move to take such a decision but then why only Pathan...there should have been Sehwag & Jaffer in the same bus.Probably sehwag would have back strongly like Ganguly as well...but for now i believe it was wrong to send him back alone!!!

IRfan Pathan Sent back
by Najam Anwer on Dec 26, 2006 01:59 PM  Permalink

This is a wrong decision. We already have Munaf injured and VRV singh also not in good form. If Munaf is not fit, It is better to play Irfan in place of VRV Singh. Also If one pacer is getting injured, who will replace him for playing XI. We could have keep him in reserve.
This will demoralise Irfan also. Zaheer has got has form back in England county not in Indian pitches.

Thanks
Najam Anwer
