Stupidest decision
by Balaji.S on Dec 26, 2006 04:06 PM  Permalink

If a player is being sent back due to his poor then whole indian squad should have been sent back and totally a new side should be sent in.

Also to add if Irfan pathan's form is poor then what about the some of the useless cricters like Sachin, Sehwag & Jaffer? Especially when an experienced guy like sachin was unable to exploit the conditions then no point in sending back pathan home.

Also it should be remembered he is a geniune alrounder, remember that he was the one who saved us in both innings of the practice match prior to the first test. Altogether they have not done any good both for the youngster's moral, or for the future indian team.

Finally only one question does any one in the team management have courage to send back tendulkar for his poor performance in the whole series? I think no does have that.

Its unfair
by Sarvesh on Dec 26, 2006 04:02 PM  Permalink

Irfan has been a great performer for so long.He should have been given a break for a month to regather.Player domestic cricket will not improve his game as class of international cricket is much higher than domestic cricket.
He should be provided help clear out mental thoughts so that he regains postive approach.Indian media can help in encouraging Pathan rather than criticizing. We should realise he is on national duty for so long and he has justified his place better than any youngster. So now its our turn to give him backing.New players should be given chance when they are in form. But older players should not be chucked out.Rotational policy will work best. Its unfair from BCCI to call him back like this.

Pathan a lesson to learn
by Saurabh on Dec 26, 2006 03:52 PM  Permalink

Well if we all take this decision in the right spirit , it makes sense to send Pathan back to India , obviously he is in the scheme of things for the World Cup , if he can regain his bowling touch that would be really great , and making him just sit on the bench is not helping the cause either ,

but on the contrary , the selectors should have dropped him in the first place , such decisions in the mid of the series , are bound to raise debates and differences in opinion

pathan proformance
by mathan on Dec 26, 2006 03:52 PM  Permalink

if u r not performing, you do not deserve a place in indian cricket... its not a pension scheme, i.e. if you have performed one in your life, you can not take your position for granted.

its really disappointing

Its really disappointing to see pathan being sent back home.Considering whole scene ,sehwag must be sent back.If sehwag has made a tripple century then Pathan has also taken hat-trick.I am really surprised with the behaviour of the selection commitie that they have shown towards a player like pathan

Then it is better we hold camp of 30/40 players in the country to tour; ask players from there to give us bolling, batting and catching practice. Select team there for each game.Send back those who dont perform except selectors who should return only after the team for the last game ids selected

This is some reality, which the co-patriot must consider that is Pathan is emerging allrounder for Indian Team. Though he is very young and less experience, but has proved his caliber from time to time and appreciated by world.

Sending back to him was not appropriate and unjustified in over all situation, as there other player as well not performing well...like VRS Singh and Sehwag. It Could demoralize the players instinct.....
