There should be no more exceptions. Be it Sachin, Sehwag or Ganguly. Beyond reasonable chances given, they should be asked to regain form at the domestic level.
Yes it is absolutely right. His bowling is too low so that he has to make it up and get a come back. He does not need to worry and he has a good example in Zaheer.
It should not be considered as being sent back. Pathan is rather called back, to join his Ranji Team and get some match practice. He is as of now absolutely out of color as far as bowling is concerned. It is not this series alone but over past 6 - 7 months. It is a good move to have him spend some time with MRF Pace academy and his Ranji team and who knows, he may be back to his best. Let's wish him the best. Sehwag and Jaffer too may need similar approach, if they fail in this test too. But as of now we should not forget the fact that both of them played well during the last West Indies Test series. So they deserve their chances, though Sehwag's ODI form has been poor for quite some time now.
Although I do agree that players in poor form must be rested or called back, I wonder what we should do with players like Sachin or Sehwag if they are going through a lean patch. Should we call them back too? Besides, what's the criteria to determine 'poor form'? What if a bowler fails to take sufficient wickets but scores valuable runs or takes crucial catches? And what if a bowler takes just takes one prize wicket of a batsman like Lara or Ponting versus a bowler who claims the wickets of two or three tailenders? It is, therefore, very important to define poor or good form. I do agree that players have to justify their selection in the team. They must deliver if they are to retain their berth in the team. It is the players' responsibility to make sure that they make a satisfactory contribution to the team. They have to deserve to make the money they make. The decision to call the non-performers back will keep these players on their toes. Overall, I think it's a good decision and one which will strengthen Indian cricket.
It was pure injustice to pathan, he is a match winner for india, did well in the warm up games, i dont know what the hell jaffer is doing in the team, politics can shatter his confidence and future, i request to all cricket lovers to consider this matter seriously, ask sharad pawar to be away from cricket.. jai hind..
Well.. Pathan is not his usual self.. but it was not his fault that he was being asked to focus on batting as well..... Not to mention we all know he is a match winner... I am not againist the decision but it depends on how the management decided this. I hope they spoke to him and asked him what he think it was best for him. Stay in SA with the possiblilty that he may not play at all or go back and get some much needed practice and take his time to get back to form. We need him to WC and so we need to think ahead...
i guess its absolutely right to send him back because he got smacked by a club team ..now thats not what you want at the international level ..and he is not going to play in the 11 so better he gets some games in the domestic circuit and may be perform and prove himself worthy of a place in the side .A spot in the indian team cannot be taken for granted you have to earn it and retain it .. the about sehwag being sent back may be give him another chance he may make runs ..else send him back but the problem we do not have ne openers
Looking at his performances in West Indies, Champions Trophy, etc. he should not have been selected on this tour in first place. Sending midway thru series will further erode his confidence.
I think it is a good and sensible decision at this point of time for Pathan and India. Because India need the Bowler Pathan very much . It is true that he is batting well.. but more than than he is also a proven bowler , who swings the ball early of the innings. Since India is have new some exceptional talents arising in the seam department ( Sreesanth, Munaf..), having a quality allrounder like Pathan will really be worth. So it is good that allow him to get his confidence back as soon as possible so that he can be part of the world cup scode..
