Correct Decission.
by Sriram on Jan 06, 2007 12:12 PM  Permalink

I guess it was a right thing to be doing to send Pathan back owing to poor form. No player in the side has to take his place for granted. Pathan has been going through a turf over the last 8 months and didn't deserve to be picked in the first place. I guess the decission to send him back was only a corrective measure.

Kudos to the selectors for their gutsy decission to re-call Pathan as it highlights the fact that he didn't deserve to be there contrary to their decission of picking him for the tour. He might have batted well but the intend was to pick a bowler for the job.

I would have appretiated if they had also decided to re-call Shewag. This is another slot that needs to be given to a more deserving hand. Shewag is all about a hand-eye co-ordination and hence is the absence of a sound technique, it is too tough for him to visit his form.

Definitely it's a right move,A young player like pathan is very important to the future of the team. His form is important with the world cup around,so it's better his individual performance be counted and right measure be taken, afterall it is goin to doin him good and the team vice versa

Sack the ''Mr. Imperfect'' Sehwang!
by Chandru on Jan 06, 2007 08:36 AM  Permalink

I was proved right. I earlier wrote in this column that Dinesh Karthick must be asked to open and that, he'd do a lot better than the `specialists'. Thanx to DK! India finally saw a century opening eicket partnership at last!

Karthick did an excellent job even in the second innings. He would have sure added another 50 to his kitty and propelled the Indian score further hadn't the tailenders let him and the country down.

Cheater Munaf Patel must sure be punished for hiding his injury and robbing another fit player's place in the playing 11. His ducklike running and 120 kmph pace and spooning the first delivery (7th Delivery of the over)he faced, showed him in poor light.

Umpiring has been far below par throughout the series. A few of the lapses let India down completely. Like Dravid being given out twice wrongly in the 2nd test and Tendulkar's lbw this innings. Had these decisions went right, India could have won the series 2-0.

Defending 210 is going to be a pretty difficult task with so much time still remaining in the game. Only Anil Kumble can make a difference. Let's see what happens on the final day...

Irfan
by Feroz Khan on Jan 05, 2007 11:39 PM  Permalink

No, because Irfan is the present best bowler of India. If he doesn't bowl on some occassions, then it is just a matter of unluck but remember he is a batsman too and a good fielder. He has become a scapegoat. Perhaps the concerned authorities forget to look at Shewaq performance. He has become a big burden for our team. He should be the one to be replaced but not Pathan. By the way World Cup is near, by sending back Pathan, is a very unpleasant decision.

Why is sehawg still there
by Pankaj Mittal on Jan 05, 2007 10:07 PM  Permalink

it's time to kick out fat sehwag out of the team. Player like pathan has contributed more than enough for team india always. Open the past 10 games scorecard for sehwag and you will find the facts.

Ganguly should be given captaincy
by krishna Billava on Jan 05, 2007 08:20 PM  Permalink

My personal openion is that to bring back Gangully as Captain as he deserves it and he can sure bring the world cup to India.

Drop Sehwag, send Cappel back home. He is the person who spoiled the morale of the players. Some time I think that he came here to break the Indian team and not to make it. First of all he created the problems between the key players like Gangully, Dravid and Sachin.

I strongly believe we should give captaincy to Gangully as our most important thing is to bring the world cup and he has the quality in him.

Was it right to send Irfan back?
by Aslam Shaahid on Jan 05, 2007 08:09 PM  Permalink

No,not at all.He should have been included in the team as an opener and occasional bowler till he finds his rhythm because he is one of the Rare breed of exceptional swing bowlers.
