Whether the decision to send Irfan back is right or not and whether its going to shatter his confidence or not is a question that others can deliberate on. As far as Irfan is concerned, the writing is clearly on the wall. He HAS to make this work for him. He's being sent back for lack of form. If Irfan himself agrees that he is out of form then he wont be dejected by the decision. He will bowl hard in the domestic matches and get ready for the highest level once again. We all know what he is capable of! He wasnt celebrated in his formative years for nothing. He didnt graduate to being the spearhead of the attack for nothing. I am convinced that Irfan will come back stronger and faster and hungrier, but i am worried about the rest of the team now. The others are going to be worried about how they fair and how soon they get the axe. Guys like Laxman and Sehwag play a big innings once in a while, and because of the uncertainty at the end of each innings, they might get bogged down trying to impress,& deny us that one big innings too. Sachin's form has been embarassing for his fans till now, but it might get embarassing for even him now if he fails again & still gets to be in the team.
Pathan is a good bowler. Indian team expected too much from him. I think he should bat after Dhoni. That will relive some pressure from him. He is a bowler and he needs to concetrate on bowling. I dont see anything wrong in sending him back. If he is not in form, he needs to catch up his form again.
Pathan is an asset if not as a bowler (since he is having a lean patch) but he can bat much better than our so called openers viru and jaffer. he is good fielder and a bowler who can win matches. calling him back our team has lost a good sports person probably forever. he may lose his heart on batting and move towards concentrating on his bowling. we will have another chandra in our team. if the board wants to call back non performers then they have to call back half the team including Sachin.Viru.Jaffer. capt.Dravid. hope better counsel prevail and such things should not be repeated in the future
It's good to see Irfan been sent home to play domestic cricket. To be frank he was spoiled by the team management by making him concentrate on his batting which affected his bowling. Now the right step has been taken in making him play domestic cricket. This should enable him to rediscover his form. It would also have been good in making Sehwag return. Well India still has the chance of winning the World Cup, only if the right decisions are taken.
I think Indian team for 2 nd and 3 rd test was decided and Irfan name was not there. Selector must have thought it is good idea to release Irfan to play Ranji matches rather just sitting idle. I do not think so, he was sent back just because he in poor form and low confidence. Also, I am sure they must have taken opinion of Irfan before taking this decision and discussed the situation. It is just a good move in benefit of Irfan and it's Ranji side back in home and personally he would prefer to play cricket rather Njoying weather of SA. He is surely not in low confidence after this decision since he knows his place in indian side is not too much in trouble.
No, I don't think its a good move to send Irfan Pathan back to India to play Ranji. What I think is since Wasim Jaffer who is in starting eleven and coming as an opener for India, doing nothing. He is also not n good touch. So in place of him Indian team can put Irfan Pathan as an Opener and can ask him to play little faster. They can make use of his bolwing also. I think pathan should be in team in place of Jaffer.
No. Absolutely wrong step. BCCI has killed the career of an young brave and dedicated player. Patthan's hattrick in the beginning of this year was forgotten whereas Jaffer's double ton was remembered without fail!! Jai Maharashtra!! Jai Vengasarkar!!
I Feel Pathan should be held back at South Africa for rest of the matchs. Instead send Shewag is the best player to come back and play Ranji and prove himself.
Irfan is an all rounder, if his performance in bowling is not up to the mark ,atleast he can perform in batting. its truly unfair to force him back to home.this cannot be the the perfect reason to send him back, i think there's some politics going on behind it, as what happened in case of Sourav.this is an insult to this player.
