Unfair decission
by Abhijith on Dec 28, 2006 12:26 PM  Permalink

I think it is totally unfair to send Pathan back to India in the middle of the test series. It will badly affect the pacer's confidence. I believe his lack of form in the recent past is because he is lacking his confidence. He is under tremendous pressure to perform well to be the part of Team India.

This action of sending him back will morally affect the other team members and will help only to increase their pressure to perform well.

Also I wonder why the same treatment is not given to the same kind performers like Sehwag and Jaffer?? Did u saw how Sehwag throw away his wicket in the 1st innigs of the 2nd test match? His foolishness should be punished if Irfan has to go back India.

I conclude this move as totally unfair to Pathan and the entire Indian team

Why only Pathan be blaimed for poor form.
by Dinesh on Dec 28, 2006 12:25 PM  Permalink

I don't know what is going on in the mind of selectors, coach and the captain? If we forget for a while the 1st test win of India we can clearly see the overall form of the team and the players.

It was Pathan who played the major role in the four day practice test match with the highest score in both the innings and bag himself man of the match trophy and from there India's momentum changed tremoundesly.

Pathan is just the 2nd genuine all-rounder player India have in the history of Indian cricket. The role of a all-rounder is to play well with bat and bowl. Sometimes an all-rounder play good with bat sometime play well with bowl. Now-a-days he is playing well with bat (better than the main batsmans in the team) so why he was ruled out of the team suddenly.

Sehwag, Jaffer, and other players are also not scoring runs for a long time. I think in india only batsman can survive for long. A batsman is being kept in the team despite frequent failures and a bowler is being ruled out only from one poor performance.

This is really unjustice and if this keep on going than I don't know where is the team going?

Thanks,

Dinesh

IRfan Pathan
by Pruthvi Raj on Dec 28, 2006 12:15 PM  Permalink

Ya its correct that he has been sent back to play domestic cricket...

The same thing has been done ganguly and he has come back strong...

The players have to realize that their postion is not cemented in the side... and they have to keep performing........

sehwag
by uday on Dec 28, 2006 12:14 PM  Permalink

selection commitee is doing good job in making players realise that they have to earn their place.

for sehwag also it's important to regain back his original flow of batting.it is to his advantage to play domestic cricket then think of world cup.

all players must concentrate on daily work out on cricket ground & not on fashion/ad.ground.

Was it right to send Irfan back?
by JP Sinha on Dec 28, 2006 11:56 AM  Permalink

I will not say whether this decision was wrong or right but I will ask why only Irfan? Everyone will agree it is Sehwag who need this reprimand. I think BCCI has to find some scapegoat and needless to say it had to be Irfan. Its just a gimmick, like today's fiasco of dashing the hopes of a young Delhi bowler who was ask to join the men in blues at SA. For the purists my advise is don't be taken in by this moves of the BCCI, who have put the Indian cricket into a big quagmare and also a laughing stock of the sporting communities.

right move to send pathan back
by mihir on Dec 28, 2006 11:56 AM  Permalink

As pathan was not to be considered for remaining matches in SA.It was a correct move to send back pathan as he would get a chance to play in ranji trophy matches and regain his lost confidence and form

Irfan
by Baseer Ahmed on Dec 28, 2006 11:32 AM  Permalink

I don't think that any player should send back in the middle of the tour because it would break the players confidence instead of the they should support him at this time when a player is in out of form, but here its just opposite.
