think it was a very rational decision but given the unnecessary sentiments, it becomes a debate. There is no doubt that there nothing in Pathan's bowling to warrant him a play-in the current series. Whats wrong in releasing him to get Match Practise elsewhere which is the next best thing. Every country releases their players to play elsewhere if they dont fit in the scheme of the current series.
Pathan must be feeling low but he needs to understand that bigger names like Brett Lee, Wasim Akram, Kumble (the list can go on...) have faced an axe & worked their way back. He doesnt need to look far, look at Zaheer Khan. He is a completely changed bowler, thats what must motivate Pathan. He is young, has time on his side. Even if it takes him an year - whats the big deal?
Indian Cricket should look at the Aussies where they target a Player for 5-8 years Services, if he is exceptional, let him make the place his like Ponting, Warne. You must make the best of the Prime of a PLayer & leave him relaxed to prune himself to his Prime in the rest of the time.
I think there are many other players who need much more serious attention before Pathan. Irfhan was sent because of bad form in bowling, but lets not forget he was in supreme form in batting when rest of the batsman failed.
Sehwag is a specialist batsman and has shown no signs to stay on the stumps which is required in a test match.
Also, just see the team of 11, after excluding Pathan, just one left-hand batsman(Ganguly) out of 11. That needs attention as well.
Hey! i think that this was a great move to send Pathan back to Domestic Arena. Because it is useless to keep pulling him despite the dismal performance he had been showing.
However he is playing in the International sports and its a must that he prove his position in the team by his consistent performance but not by the past performance. If he is a Fighter then surely he will bounce back. its upto him to decide his fate.
i think Sehwag too should be sent back in the same manner like Pathan wasn sent. Other wise this step will not be justiciable and will lead to lot of controversaries.
Absolutely wrong. It shatters the morale of the young achieving cricketer. In any case no replacement is being sent. He could have remained with the team till the end of the series and as and when necessary the team could have used services either in the nets or the tests.
I think, Yes, Sehwag should also be back. What I believw that Pathan was playing even better than Sehwag if you see the recent record. But he was called back. Then why not Sehwag.
Sehwag should have been banished long back. Even Sreesanth is scoring more runs than him. He is an expensive baggage and passanger. He should be asked to play Ranji trophy first to regain form.
