Sending Pathan back
by Ramesh Ramankutty on Jan 02, 2007 10:16 AM  Permalink

Dear Sir,

Sending pathan back to India from South Africa was a very bad decision. He could perform well with his bat. He has to be given a chance. Remove Sehwag from the team as he is useless and out of form. We should give chance to more yougsters also, and introduce more fast bowlers who can take wickets and give good performace so that they can remain longer in the team. By removing Pathan you have done blunder and it will affect his later performacnce. You should have given one more chance to him. AS said earlier the person who does not perform should be removed, which is absolutely correct.

Regards

Ramesh

why not pathan open the batting!!!
by Abdul Samad on Jan 02, 2007 10:03 AM  Permalink

Considering the performance of our openers, we could have tried Pathan to open our batting. He has got the best of techniques as an opener than any other india batsmen. Look at Shuaib Malik of Pakistan, he was a bowler and see how important is he now for Pak as a batsman now. what is important is that we realise the potential strength of each and every player and utilize them. It should have been an eye opener for our selectors, when all of our players failed Pathan scored a century and 41 not out in the two innings in the warm up match. Sending back any players in the middle of a series is not good, whether it is Swevag, Pathan or anyone. If the selectors feel they are not performing, they can omit the players in the next selection. It is an insult to the players. He could have been left out from the remaining matches. Now pathan is back. Have we sent any replacement for him? Moreover there is enough bowlers at the disposal of Indian team. It was really not good to send back any player in the middle of a series unless it becomes madatory to send a replacement.

Ufcourse Not!!!!!!
by Amer on Jan 02, 2007 01:55 AM  Permalink

Irfan is better than Sehwag and Ganguly. He is a good Allrounder. I think it is partiality to send Irfan back home.

was it right to send Irfan back?
by Aliaamir Lokhandwala on Jan 02, 2007 01:19 AM  Permalink

No it was very unfair for him. he was not in form with the ball but his batting was excellent.infact he was batting the best in the team. even shewag is not in form so why only Irfan was sent back.

was it right to send Irfan Pathan back?
by Kirit Shah on Jan 01, 2007 11:54 PM  Permalink

There was nothing wrong as far as sending back Irfan Pathan, the Bowler ,from South Africa. But the Team Management made a crucial and probably fatal error.Indian bowling without Pathan was doing fine.Sreesanth, Zaheer and a fit Munaf were too good for SA. But Batsmen were struggling. Nobody was looking good to score too many runs. Here Irfan should have been used as a batsman, as he is used to such role. And he might have not only got some big score for himself, but probably would have helped other batsmen to regain some confidence. Unfortunately that chance is missed and situation messed up.Now it will be more difficult for Pathan to get back into rhythm.Presently we have no batting back up. Thats why some jokers are still playing arrogantly and getting away. Sadly, we indian people are somewhat responsible to place these individuals in a rank a shade below god. What impression we get on watching their performances is that Playing Cricket is their Part Time Job and appearing in TV Ads is their main business. God Help Them....and us...
