Yes,given his pathetic bowling form, going for 6/7 runs per over without any strikes. One does not expect even a part time bowler to be as inconsistent.Irfan seems to be having serious problems in all aspects of his bowling including the menatal side.A break from Test cricket and a dose of domestic cricket is the better option if he has to find his form.
This strategy also reveals a fresh and refreshing mindset on the part of the Tour Management since the appointment of Vengsarkar as Chairman of selectors.A clear signal to the players that form and fitness will prevail and not reputation
Only we ahve to ensure the same standard applies to other non-performers too-Veeru being a case in point.
Indian cricket needs such dynamic but unbiased decisions if we are to emerge as a force to reckon with on the world stage.
Defintely wrong. I think Greg Chappel is taking every wrong step along with wrong judgement. But then who has the time to listen? Boasting of his fitness obsession, he has chosen the wrong combinations most of the time. If the Indian selectors do not want to humiliate themselves - at least for the Wold Cup - they had better have a better panel of (professional) selectors and not political or entrepreuntial ones! Politics, partiality and sports cannot ever mix.
pathan has lost the confidence of team's think tank. if he was not going to be picked in the final final XI, then it is better he plays a few matches in india and gets back he rhythm , may be he will get his confidence back. Nothing wrong in sending him back
This is the right thing to send back a player who is in out ofform. They shoud play homecricketand retain form. This isthe mesaage to playrs like Sehwag.I am a fanatic fanof team India (notplayers),but the team has toperform well.Cricketis the only sport which we play in an international standard. All the players get high amount of salary .So every player has his own responsibiliy to play well.NO Indians dont have the duty to bare any players. We have lot of talented players and give them chance.
It's a good step to send Pathan back to India, as it will provide him a chance to regain his form back. There is no doubt that he is a good allrounder, but what counts is performance at the ground. So not to worry about, he is going to come back to indian team again and he has to as India needs him in World Cup. So he should work hard and get recover himself from injury and his form back.
PATHAN U R THE JACKPOT OF INDIA, Come on! U can do it!
Calling Irfan Pathan back home was a stupid and rediculous decision, it is not justified as well. There were many other non-performing guys (without mincing words I say this) like Virendar Sehwag who should have been managed like that. Hardly things are achieved by de-moralising a hard worker and upcoming player like Pathan; instead so called concerned official including hon'ble Mr.Dilip Vengsarkar and the coach must have had a one-to-one consultation with him and guided.
Were these guys sleeping till the ODI's get over? how many players havn't got failed and to how many of them these selectors, captain, coach and officials have spoken and discussed about reason for not doing well? Why is that in 6 innings' including 4 ODI's top 5 batsmen were allowed put an aggregate of less than 1000 runs? I think there is more to the issue than calling Pathan back home to play domestic cricket.
The team management repsonsible for this decision has a wrong thing. It would discourage other youngsters like Suresh Raina, Munnaf Patel and others, induce a feeling of insecurity, preventing them from playing natural game, also encouraging seniors to take the team management and BCCI lightly.
