quit
by ANSAI on Sep 28, 2005 06:01 PM  Permalink

Your article throws light on the present condition of indian cricket.I believe Chappel is not lying.Remember the scene how Ganguli throwed his shirt to show his bare body while celebrating victory, a behaviour unbecoming of a captain of any standard. He should have sacked for that. He is certainly mentally unfit.

Excellent article, Prem !!
by Chandra on Sep 28, 2005 05:27 PM  Permalink

This was a nice write-up by Prem. It highlighted how ridiculous the "6-wise men" were in sorting this out. Ganguly should have been sacked. That would be in the best interest of the Indian cricket. Now he has lost all credibility in the team, and is under tremendous pressure to perform. It will be interesting to see how he performs.
All in all, let us all (Indian cricket) fans forget about India bringing home the 2007 World cup. Let's look forward to the 2011 world cup, hopefully, since by that time, Ganguly should be gone from the team !!

Media Rights....
by Arvind on Sep 28, 2005 04:51 PM  Permalink

Don't you think the BCCI should auction the media rights over the off-feild politics? Wonder how Mr.Dalmiya's quentessential business brains overlooked this. After all the action here is far far superior than the teams performance on feild, which no one bothers to watch these days anymore. The team has become as boring as it captain.

'' Time has come for Ganguly quit''
by sanjeev on Sep 28, 2005 04:42 PM  Permalink

The article written is pro gangully. If gangully is so great let him get down the captaincy and prove his mantle as a player.. His out of form for such a long term is the evident of his stat of mind ( in English count he didn't do much ). If you go back and see the set of player in the India team are same there is no change except for J.Srinath, Ever since Ganguly has taken over the Captaincy. then why is team loosing ? It was the know fact Ganguly preferred Harbhan then Kumble where the fact that both the spinners out of 100 score 49:51 toggling. As both are not a great turners of the ball. There are certain aspect that Gangully should think, If he has built the team doesn't mean that he has the right destroy it.. Talking of disciplinary action Ganguly was first to go public about the opinion Chappel has given on the eve of the test, he went public after scoring 100, Why didn't he go before scoring Hundred.. Second thing is Ganguly is the only Captain who enjoyed Gurenteed long term.. where rest of the captains has always the problem of getting changed. So now its time for Ganguly step down As a Captain and prove his selection as a player.

Exactly right.......
by Ankur Girdhar on Sep 28, 2005 04:13 PM  Permalink

Yes, that is what the Board president really explained to the media..... So, after such a lengthy session with all the cricket pundits in Bombay wasn't it necessary to come to a conclusion instead of a fake compromise which is really harmful for Indian Cricket... And all the conclusions go against Chapell... So, it would be most appropriate to put this man out of Indian Cricket. You just simply can't talk against a guy who made whole hearted efforts to bring strength and fighting abilities in the entire team for the past 5 years....

Coach cannot don the role of a captain
by A.H. Venkatachalam on Sep 28, 2005 04:07 PM  Permalink

It is good that the three wise men have been pragmatic in their approach to solve the issue as distinct from many bureaucrats we come across who will not hesitate to make a mess of the matter and much against the wishes of journalists who are naturally a little disappointed with the outcome. The episode has come to an end thanks to these wise men. 'To err is human'. There has been an aberration on the part of the coach. He will not now encroach upon Captain's territory. It was not in good taste to call Ganguly mentally unfit. And, Ganguly did not lose his balance. By and large, he has shown more maturity.
