Indian cricket
by Kumar on Sep 27, 2005 09:21 PM  Permalink

Dear Mr.Prem,

How do you expect a 'slaughter' could be a Gandhian and Mahendra and Dalmiya to speak truth. Secondly, you call six wisemen, you are half right (delete wisemen).

The great Sunil Gavaskar criticised the whole world, now pretends to be a 'diplomatic' person, b'coz... reasons well known to all. The same Ravi Sastri was made a laughing stock by Ganguly some year back over players' contract. Mr.Venkat! what happened to you?

Sachin, Rahul, Laxman and other good performers, better pack up and look for someother sports (till that is also corrupted).

We, Indians are cursed and have been fooled repeated by our politicians and now by these sports administrators.

Greg, please don't waste your time here but enjoy your life at Australia, afterall we are Indians and we don't want professionalism.

Dear friends, please switch off TV and don't patronise cricket in any form, when there will be no more moneyflow to BCCI coffin (Is it right?) and it will meet a natural death and Dalmiya and gang will close the shop.

Jai Hind

Excellent article!
by hari on Sep 27, 2005 09:16 PM  Permalink

Prem,

You hit the nail on the head. But just as we watch helplessly indian politicians fighting elections with notoriously criminal backgrounds (some of them even fighting from within prisons), here we are again totally helpless.

What we see at work today is the great indian dirty political mind. Having worked for reputed MNCs for the last five years, I see the same dirty indian political mindset in these professional organizations too. Bad work ethics, caste politics, regional politics, politics, politics and politics!

The future is bleak because this is the way our professional organizationals are run, this is the way our government is run and this is the way our sports bodies are run (hockey, atheltics etc apart from cricket).

Next time when you drive and you happen to hit a pothole on the road, you very well know where exactly the big gaping hole in the whole system lies!

We are busy destroying ourselves so where is the time for reconstruction.

From: A desparate and frustrated indian.

Your article sucks big time ,why dont you grow-up beyond your egoistinc thinking. We dont care if ganguly is best captain or his average is very good but wots important how many matches did he win for india in last two years with his individual performance.

I do agree he is the best captiain india had so far but where do you rate him in the world.

We feel he should have been kicked out long time back.

Death of Indian Cricket
by Ramakrishna on Sep 27, 2005 09:14 PM  Permalink

I am not exaggerating but this is beginning of end of Indian cricket as we know. Believe me, as hard core fan of cricket, I lost interest in cricket. Never ever... problems are solved by Indian cricket board. What are we... jokers? Don't we know whats going on in Indian cricket.

Don't babyfeed us Dalmiya. What is your criteria for next two series... Performance... What the heck... What are you telling... Ganguly's performance is OK for last two years... Go to hell Dalmiya...

Prem, when did you become BLIND
by Mani on Sep 27, 2005 09:14 PM  Permalink

Prem, agreed you write some amazing columns. Agreed, that your previous article about how the whole issue will be swept under the carpet for the 'best intrest' was spot on. But, could not make out WHY you are baying for Greg's blood and branding him a liar. Isn't this a classic Indian political bickering...

Is Chappel a liar?
by a k p c swain on Sep 27, 2005 09:13 PM  Permalink

It is well known that corruptions are rampant in every walk of Indian lives. There is no wonder that the great cricketeers of the country took the decision to patch up the feud between Chappel and Ganguly. Is it in the best interest of cricket in the country? The gentlemen in Indian cricket cannot dare to sack either Chappel or Ganguly. We fear riots in Calcutta if Ganguly is sacked. We fear adverse international opinion if Chappel is sacked. The best thing was to advise for patch up.It is better to have an Indian coach who knows to play politics to please every body who matters.Behind indecisiveness there is moral corruption. Is it not?

Yeah right? This is truce.
by Srini on Sep 27, 2005 09:10 PM  Permalink

As I was reading Panicker\'s article, I was having the similar thoughts on this issue being pushed under carpet. This has been very malady of Indian cricket for long time now. I can\'t understand how it is expected of Coach and the captain to work togther after this murky spat. As far as I concerned, Chappel wasn\'t wrong. He gave an honest opinion of whats wrong with Indian team and Ganguly in particular. But board(Dalmiya and Mahendra) and Ganguly cannot digest this.

Needless to say, the obvious point is Ganguly is not performing. It does not matter whether Coach says it or somebody else states it. Whats the point in resolving a symptom of a problem(truce) rather resolve the problem itself(sacking Ganguly). This is like treating a fever when one is suffering from a malignant problem. I am pretty sure that Chappel may have really miffed by the outcome of this meeting where Chappel is being held culpable and blamed for lying (unhonourable)because likes of Dalmiyas want to protect Ganguly. Dalmiya may help Ganguly to play for India but not make him bat well.(\"One can take a horse to a pond but cannot make it drink water\")

Oh well! we are all tired of this double standards by

Is Chappell a liar mr. Mahendra?
by g.chandrasekaran on Sep 27, 2005 09:08 PM  Permalink

Just half an hour ago I wrote my comments in another article what a shame Greg accepted for such a compromise! I clearly said if what is said that the reports of allegations that Ganguly faked injuries re far from truth , then it amounts to telling that Chappell is a liar. Sir, you are telling the same point and I am happy at least there is one more soul in this country who can think straight. I wish these So called Cricketing geniusses , Gavaskar, Ravi Sastri and V. Rahavan quit and retire for all time to come from the world of cricket. They have no scruples . I wonder , of all the persons venkatraghavan? Cant imagine. They are a shame to our country and our cricket. Mr. Chappel, you are now a confirmed liar , why not quit?

Chappel
by Amarnath Reddy on Sep 27, 2005 09:08 PM  Permalink

John Wright might have faced the same issues as that of Chappel facing now. It is better for chappel to resign and leave this indian cricket team alone at rank 7. If Bengali's think that Ganguly has done great things for this team, why are we at 7th rank right now? what was our test rank 2 years ago? If past performance is the bench mark, then Kapil dev should be the captain, as he brought one world cup to India. As long as Ganguly is in the team (with no batting performance) we will not be in the top 5 test rank. Good Luck Greg!
