Is dressing room = Press room?
by Barun Guha on Sep 27, 2005 11:55 PM  Permalink

Coach does not like a player. One player does not like the coach. This is so common in any kinds of sports. The sickening thing is that all of this is getting printed in media. Does Indian cricket team need a dressing room? They can discuss all of these in TOI or HT or Express or Rediff room?

Fate of Indian Cricket
by Sudhakar on Sep 27, 2005 11:42 PM  Permalink

BCCI requres hardcre business men to run the show!!! but these business men doesnt seem to know what is business in the game of cricket and supporting ganguly and co.
Though the game has got the ultimate popularity in India, but the current setting will spoil the game and people will slowly move towards the REAL action packed games line EPL and champions league..
Let these "so called business men" do something about it and atleast the goverment stop spending the money on these issues, atlast tax payers in india are not idiots.

You also need to be trustful and loyal to ourselves
by Amit Ganguli on Sep 27, 2005 11:39 PM  Permalink

Just a few comments on this article. It is most probable that either Greg Chappell is lying or Ganguly is lying. Now given that the manager and the physio takes Ganguly's side on this "fake injury" issue, why is it so difficult to accept this? Mr. Chappell is a genious in this game of cricket but attitude is not quite always related to knowledge about a subject. I am amazed how the whole country does not think how harsh the email was - Mr. Chappell is not dignified atleast on this occasion. Imagine this is written to our country's captain who has served for 5 years with atleast some success. The content is so insulting that I feel ashamed that only a few Indians is speaking against it. No matter how much of a genious Chappell is, he has no right to demean a country's captain even if it happens to Tatendra Taibu or Hashibul Bashar. Why do we have to only believe Chappell, why not our own captain? Remember, Mr. Chappell has yet to deliver - and for Ganguly, on the sake of his form, call for his sacking or quitting - no problem with that but defitely condemn such distasteful email content. We as Indians are not totally indisciplined, infact we are better knit than many.

Is Chappell a liar, Mr. Mahendra?
by Sukumar on Sep 27, 2005 11:38 PM  Permalink

The general public is wise enough to realize,

whenever our cricket gods say in the interest of

Indian cricket, they mean vested self-interest,

because there is enough mgp (money, glamour,

power) in Indian cricket. Gregg Chappell has

enough self-respect, so I will be surprised if he

does not resign soon. But aside from that, give

Sourav a benefit match soon. Now sadly he is in a

denial mode (how many of us can gracefully

retire?), but in his glorious days he has done

enough for the resurrection of Indian cricket from

the doomsdays of match fixing. Finally, in the

interest of Indian cricket, rescue Indian cricket

from the warlords like Mahendras and the

Dalmiyas.

Re: PP's bogus article
by Shiv Kasar on Sep 27, 2005 11:32 PM  Permalink

I think you should go back to your writing hibernation!! This article is pure junk!!

What ails India Cricket is this all too great Players who think that by making some 10000 runs or taking 200 wickets, it is their birthright to play for the country forever.. and that they are untouchables.. forget about current form. That there place is reserved in the Indian team is a given with the mindset of players, BCCI & media alike.

There will be no improvement in Indian cricket with the likes of ganguly, dalmiya & their cronies around & that you can take it to the bank!!

chappell is not a liar.....
by yedzava on Sep 27, 2005 11:25 PM  Permalink

"i think prem panicker has lost his head. his writing is very biased (looks like he is from the jaggu dalmiya camp). for all you know, right now he must b having beer with jaggu & gangu. this is the problem with we indians. we cannot accept a strict, disciplined & hard working training. all the foreign coaches are going to stress on physical fitness & feiding abilities. if ganguly was playing for any other team he would have been pulled up for his sloppy & lazy feilding. but when u have jaggu around with u, who can make gangu run those extra 3-4 rounds? who is going to bell this tom cat? well, here comes chappell who credentials cannot be challenged. all know that he has been strict as far physical fitness & feilding is concerned. gangu is most lazy feilder i have ever seen to walk on the cricket ground... anyway alls well that ends well"
