Eye-witness view of the committee!

Eye-witness view of the committee meeting!

Dalmiya and Mahendra, who we all know are closer to each other than two teenage lovers arrived together early in the morning(as they dint hav much work to do at home either!) Although they wanted to take an individual stance they felt it will be insulting the sacred 'husband-wife' relationship which we have in India, hence they decided not to express any individual views during the meeting and instead supported each other's views like a good couple all along the meeting.

For all the useless crap Sunny bhai and Shashtriji talk on prolonged chat shows on T.V, they wanted to stand up and say something useful. But Oh NO! the mic was not working!!! Though there was a spare mic available near-by, they insisted on using only ESPN-ST*R mics which obviously were not available, hence they promised to air their opinions in a special live show on ESPN!

While Venkat, the lone purist in the committee, realized the fact of life and preferred to enjoy the refreshments served during the meeting.

The Ostrich syndrome
by Ranga on Sep 28, 2005 02:32 AM  Permalink

Very apt article....as usual the old maladies of our culture has surfaced. By ignoring a problem, or wishing that it wasnt there does not make it go away. The committee had a chance to set it right, but blew it! The crux of the issue is not that Chappel hasnt proven his coaching capabilities yet, but that Ganguly has proven without any doubt that he is not worthy of his place in the team. Is Chappell right for Indian cricket? Only Time can tell. Is the current Ganguly holding on to a spot in the team right for Indian cricket? Time has already proven this.

The "wise men" have stated that performance will be the deciding factor.....hasnt performance already decided Gangulys fate? Someday, when Ganguly walks on to a field with his walking stick to bid goodbye to cricket, I will be a fan of Indian cricket again.....

Chappel a liar..!
by SK on Sep 28, 2005 01:58 AM  Permalink

It is pathetic situation and the worst part it happens only in India. What ever had happened does not happen even in club cricket and the outcome even worse, worth not even mentioning.

I find it really difficult to understand how Saurav and Chappel can work together. And how about Harbhajan?

Harbhajan brought out a good point, I wonder if any body in the corporate world can consider their job secure. He should realize he is reprsenting India, not his own private team. He definitely should feel insecure, that is a good indication he better straight up his acts and do his job.

How about Dalmiya, what does he think! Indian cricket team is his private team or his corporate team?

The best think a common man like me an do to help cricket is just do not watch cricket. Let the BCCI take a revenue hit, and then they will realize who is the real master. I am sure the sponsorer's will back out and the players will learn some discipline.

I dont find any fault with Greg, but I cannot say the same with Saurav. But alas the so called descsion makers do not feel the same, butteresing Amarnaths statement once again.

Hopefully, Indian cricket team will raise from dust again.

Mahendra's a liar
by Anuj on Sep 28, 2005 01:56 AM  Permalink

Never believe a liar when he calls someone else a liar. What would GC gain out of all the pains he has taken? A raise? He's done all this knowing that his well paid career is at stake. This is enough proof of Greg's creditabilty. What about Mahendra's?

Fools ...........!!!
by TK on Sep 28, 2005 01:44 AM  Permalink

One guy fooling around (Mahendra) ... 1 Billion fools watching (helpless) ........ Shah was wrong about cricket ... the game is not played on the field by 11 players anymore ... its about few fools (committee)... playing games on the whole country. These guys have no shame ... they have become politicians ...I dont see any Sportmanship in them anymore.

Ego problem.
by Kailash Das on Sep 28, 2005 01:39 AM  Permalink

Mr. Prem, you should direct your questions to Mr. Chappell, whom you think is a liar than poor Mahendra.

The whole email of Mr. Chappell is so childish, unprofessional and smacks more of politics than cricket. There is no solution for super jumbo ego while job requires efficient man-management as Wright successfully did.

Chappel is no liar; Ganguly is the one
by Chams on Sep 28, 2005 01:18 AM  Permalink

Hi Prem,

I am a little confused about your support to Saurabh. In fact I support Greg and we should all see that a captain should lokk at his current for to retain his title. And all of us know that Ganguly is more a lian than Greg.

Regards,

Sree

Is Chappell a liar, Mr Mahendra?
by arthur on Sep 28, 2005 01:18 AM  Permalink

Dear Sir,

You are frustrated, aren't you? You see a truce there, no concrete solution. But there is a solution which you did not see. First of all, congratulations to BCCI for coming up with the least ugly solution, given the situation. Compare it with your desire - immediately sack one of them! Don't drink beer for a day, save money, be happy and think. This is a very subtle, deft and delayed solution - Someone is going to resign in near future. Got it?

Yours Truely,
Arthur
