Is Mr Chappel a Liar
by Victor on Sep 28, 2005 04:46 AM  Permalink

All cricket lovers, we should be ashamed to promote heroes like ganguly in our social ladder. This is not just cricket, but also showing how few incompetant personalities in India are AGAIN dragging India down. Someone rightly said " A bunch of Jokers". Don't be fooled to sweat over next time when India needs 80 runs in 21 overs with 6 wickets left....It is all in the PLAN of these big Jokers, at our expense ! What a shame !!

Is Chappell a liar, Mr Mahendra
by Pink Floyd on Sep 28, 2005 04:40 AM  Permalink

Hi,I was reading this news item and I wish to higlight what Chappel has said, he said Ganguly was mentally unfit.

Now, this should not be taken in a negative manner. What is mental fitness? The expression Mental Fitness was first coined in 1997 by Dr. Yanina Shapiro, to mark a new kind of psychology. That psychology would have nothing to do with the field of Mental-Health- as-we-know- it, leaving all clinical diagnoses and medical prescriptions to psychiatrists, who are medical doctors.

Instead, the Mental Fitness Psychology would help the man and woman on the street make themselves smarter and better and more successful by exercising their brains and utilizing their talents and abilities to the fullest.Mental Fitness is the opposite of what has come to be known as Mental Health and what is really a misnomer.

Mental Fitness is about Your Own Effort, about the Work You Do to Prevent your Mind from ever Needing the help of Mental Health Professionals.Even the best fit minds are sometimes overwhelmed with the problems of today. At such times a Trainer/Coach could help. And so could in tuning up your memory, risk taking, and decision making skills.

Howzaat?
by Kaushik on Sep 28, 2005 04:32 AM  Permalink

Prem, you are on target - hitting Mr. M** (hate even typing his name) plump LBW. Like they say, these 5, 6, 7, ... x wise men - are part of the big drama - loads and oodles of money, incredible power, tons of people given them unecessary respect... they dont have the guts to stand up, take charge and make cricket a lovely game.... I can see the writing on the wall clearly - apart from the brash crazy fans of the game, a lot of very interested fans of the indian team (such as myself) are definitely supporting other teams.. why i dont mind cheering the English squad or even the Bangladesh squad - for they all put their mind and sweat into the game, not Bajji known for his delicate fingers, or Ganguli known for his all-round delicate parts....

With dismal one day records, a marginal test record - its soon going to fun time for the rivals... while our wise men contemplate the next feast....

Mr Prem good to know sm1 is speaking
by sameer Bhadouria on Sep 28, 2005 04:19 AM  Permalink

I fully agree with thoughts of Mr Prem Panicker if Greg Chapell lied he should step down or Saurav Ganguly should step down .We are working in a professioal set up(if i may call it) where non performance or bad character intergrity is not tolerated. So one of them got to be going or else the whle BCCI with its cloans should be going so that a new more professional set up can come in its place sm1 who is fit to represent India as a cricketing nation.

All is hell
by brijesh on Sep 28, 2005 04:16 AM  Permalink

Dear Mr. Panicker,
All worse happening in Indian cricket. Nobody dares to speak against anybody because everybody is wrong in their own way. Also those who want to talk will not get support. It was bound to happen that Indian team will succeed. This is not because of captain alone, many things should be taken into consideration. Steve Waugh many rate as the best captain yet he had shane warne and mark waugh and mcgrath in his side. My point being simple how you use your resources. Ganguly has done well in using his resources but the problem lies is that he wants to live as a king forever. In that scenario, nobody else will come into the picture. One cricketer has mentioned that there are too many people overaged in Indian team (not literally in age but in skill) but dont want to get outside the team. The first one to get out is Mr. Ganguly. He simply does not understand that, after being thwarted by the man he selected as coach (so much for his power). The thing is India is full of red tapism and nobody will dare cross a line to speak about others who hold power, be it politicians, cricketers or anybody else. India will never be victorious anywhere even if sachin playing heart out.

how appalling???
by anil vakkalanka on Sep 28, 2005 02:58 AM  Permalink

I have followed the recent Saurav fiasco.

I do not have words to describe the eventual result of all this fiasco.

So remember guys there is no scope for discipline in the Indian cricket management and the captain cannot be disciplined.

If at all the coach can be disciplined for giving out an honest opinion of a captain who behaves like a school boy throwing temper tantrums.

In fact the whole scene is that of an only son's terrible mistakes being overlooked by the over generous board(I am surprised that there are the likes of Sunil Gavaskar in it - who I heard is a task master). I don't beleive it anymore.

I think an Army General should be at the helm of Cricketing affairs of India so that the Coach can carry out his duties without being humiliated by the likes of Daalmiya and Ranbir what ever his name is.

What a state the cricket board has reached.

It is really appalling.

Greg !! Have you still not realised what a mistake you committed by taking on Team India.

Quit now.Let Daalmiya coach the Indian team and I am sure they will get the world cup 2007. Who knows Daalmiya and Saurav may open the Indian innings for a century stand!!!!!!!!

Ganguly's past 5 years & Indian Cricket Future
by Venkatesh Srinivasan on Sep 28, 2005 02:38 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi Prem,

Just wanted to get your opinion on some comments made by people like Rahul Dravid that Ganguly has worked so hard in the past 5 years to turn this team around blah blah ...?

Wasnt that the reason he was the captain for this long? Just because he did some good work, how long can team India take him as a liability? He is no more than a tailender in his contribution for some time now towards team's cause.

I am disappointed that people like Rahul Dravid make such statements.

It should be commended that Ganguly did some good work and he was rewarded with captaincy, freedom and leniency etc for it. But its time to move on and look ahead, dont you think?

Miss your columns.

Regards,

Venkatesh.

You know how to speak. Carry on .................
by Meghadoot Chaudhuri on Oct 12, 2005 01:26 AM  Permalink
Hi !

I am not your supporter, rather logically I am against you. But for now that is a non-issue to me.

I liked the way you spoke about your opinion, perhaps the most gentle, sober but strong. This is the way one should deal with an issue in media (electronic / print).

Debating with such type of people like you is always pleasureable than who uses the words 'kick out', 'idiots' etc. Unbiased analysis is more important than calling names - unforfunately most people forget this. Putting someone's opinion in a sober but sombre and strong way is the need of this generation ( and I appreciate you on that aspect ) .

Would the media-persons too realize this !
