I as an ardent cricket loving fan have been following the Vhappel-Ganguly spat very closely over the past few weeks. It is sad that chappel's 2000 word mail had a number of points that needed serious attention as far as the Indian crickets future is concerned. But it seems that all of it has been wiped under the carpet. It has made him look like a fool! Agreed that Ganguly has had his share of success in the past but what about the slump after the Pakistan tour of India??.Yes,he has rightly backed a number of players in the team who form an integral part of TeaM India today but there is one qustion we need to ask-Has it led to complaceny in the team?? Bajjis comments came as no surprise!.But can someone ask who was it in his "friends" that told him that Chappel was of the opinion that he had under performed under Dravid in Sri Lanka?(Mr.Ganguly u are allegedly creating a rift amongst players against Chappel example the Laxman story) Its surprising also that Ganguly claims that it was Greg Chappel who leaked in discussions of the meeting in Zimbabwe, when clearly it was he who had initiated it.Did he want the sympathy of hundreds of cricket loving fans back home in India?-to be con
Its just that, the so called commission., is trying to temporarly put an end.
For three years people are screaming about ganguly's form. Ever since aussies found his weaker batting exploits, sourav has never improved. he keeps getting out as quickly as possible. No wonder he has to go.
Former greats like kris srikanth was shown way within 6 months, just for failing in one serious and again a similiar war of words with administration.
Robin singh., ( for whom I shed tears of blood ) was never given such a long concession.
Current words are only to ease the calcutta crowd. Sure this will hit again, if ganguly has to deliver, the board has to bribe the visiting teams to loose and also make ganguly hit more runs by the way of easy bowling and asking fielders give away runs for ganguly. watch out., !! if this happens., there is sure a fixing in favour of ganguly.
It is a shame and disgraceful for the richest cricket board in the world not to listen to a professional coach who has come to help the upcomming young palyers. The board which is dancing to the tunes of Dalmia has become a laughing stock among the member countries. Regarding the captain it is time he realizes that his days are over and it would be better for him and the game if he retires dignifidely or the only solution would be to kick out ganguly from the team and Dalmia from the board to save the game.

Why only Chatterji's and Benerjee's feel that Ganguly should be in the team. Are you all so biased being from Kolkata that you always forget about the team and think about an individual? Would you have supported Dravid or someone else in the situation in which Ganguly is at this monet? Are you not able to see that Ponting played best knock in WC final and Ganguly was scoring only against weaker teams in the same WC? And it was the case in 2003. Do you all think that it is not enough to tollerate a bengoli for more than two and half years now? World is moving very fast dude. We can't wait for two-three years with regional bias!!! Why you all bengoli's giving hint of being so biased and so conservative?
Everyone saw it right. Chappel was correct. Ganguly may have past glories... but is obstinate and abhors authority NOW!! No player having such tendencies sould be tolerated, irrespective of his track record. The selectors, already used to juggling the team, know, "No man is invincible' the, why side with Ganguly?
With the state of affairs like as it is now in the Indian Cricket Arena, the sheer lacklustre performance of our cricketeers and the alleged match fixing syndrome, we Indians should start concentrating on other forms of sports like India's once favourite game Hockey, Athletics, Tennis etc., There has been really a heavy dose of Cricket in India as a result our performance in all other sports has been horrible. At least there was a consolation that, some time or other our cricketeers were winning and making the country and countrymen proud. Now such occasions have become rare. And with the Chappel - Ganguly war it has brought shame to the country. More shame by the attitude of the Cricket board on this issue as stated in your article. India, despite having such a huge population and talent, is unable to perform well in the international sports events. This is partly due to the poor support and encouragement given by the state and the public to the other sports and its participants due to their over indulgence in Cricket. Let us wake up and encourage more games. Sania Mirza has to some extent started the job. Others should also come forward
I feel that Mr.Chappell has been handed a very shabby treatment by Review Panel, by making the statement about Ganguly's injury feigning. Its hard to digest that Greg Chappell, who actually helped Ganguly when he was struggling with batting on the tour to Australia, will want to lie about him to the Board. Such a treatment will only discourage Mr.Chappell, who claims to dream of making Team India a wold champion by the next World Cup.
This column reflects the thought neigh the anguish of milions who are truly interested in the game at all levels. BCCI & the Game shall be like the "BROOK"- "Men may come and men may go; but I go on for ever".
Give Ganguly the due credit for what he had done to the game. But he is a spent force now. Let those wise men at the helm find the next "Man".
BCCI is not run by Mahendra's money. It is the money of the milions of masses. Give the due credence to the right; do not protect the wrong; you cannot stop a breach in Amazan river with paper boards (I mean the false patch up) - respect the opinion polls. Good bye Gangoo!
Remember the good olden days. Somebody commented that if Ganguly had been an Australian, he would never have played for the Australian team - given his fielding abilities. But this 'closely guarded cricketer' has been still the captain of the cricket team in a country, where the game is a religion. Don't you believe the 'faking business'(of Ganguly) is something new. We have poor memory and hence we always 'digest' the defeats of the team and continue to idolise the players. Don't you remember that he 'withdrew' from a test match against Australia after examining a 'lively' pitch in India recently? Don't you remember the way he came back to India in the midst of PAK series (in Pakistan) due to injury and returned immediately at the prospect of India winning the series? Don't you also remember that he was 'retired hurt' in the three day match in Zimbabwe and came back to bat after the new ball was seen off, in the just concluded series? Ganguly's answers with his bat were only exhibited in the matches against Kenya (world cup) and against Zimbabwe. Is it not time to dump this white horse in Indian cricket-the pauper of Kolkata or ( Indian cricket team?
In total agreement with what u just said, there is a small doubt. Did'nt u in ur previous post say the six wise men can do nothing? Then now y do we expect them to do anything? It is an advising comittee and the swards have to be drawn at the selection comittee, who now have to take a decision on Ganguly. Is my understanding right ?
