Re: Patel
by Santhosh D\'souza on Dec 24, 2005 11:21 PM  Permalink

The selection of Parthiv patel is a grave mistake from the indian selectors. Everyone knows he is a junk in cricket. Ti perform well in cricket parthiv patel needs a football size ball as well as fishing net in his hands. Shame on you selectors.

Dropping of Ganguly
by P. Chakravorthy on Dec 24, 2005 11:03 PM  Permalink

Saurav Ganguly was droppped from the Ahmedabad Test, because of narrow regional and personal interests of the Coach and the Selectors. They had not anticipated the outrage it would result in. The general public had seen through their game. The hatred for them would have increased tremendously if they had continued with their policy of excluding Ganguly for the Pakistan Tour, and India loses against Pakistan. After all, Ganguly's past performance against Pakistan is outstanding. Thus, it was just a matter of time before he had to be recalled.

Pawar play, Ganguly and Sachin
by Dinesh Raut on Dec 24, 2005 10:33 PM  Permalink

Its obvious that Ganguly came into team due to Pawar influence. You don't need inside story for this, simple logic would tell you that if that wasn't the case he would have been in Surat getting ready for match against Gujrath. He was sure he has done enough licking of Pawar.

Sad that Sachin wanted to be a part of this. Unfortunately, he is also looking at his own future.
Broken elbow and wearing body can bear the heavy bat only for a little more time. Was possibly afraid of his own faith.

Indian Team Selection
by S.Vaidyanathan on Dec 24, 2005 10:23 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Ganguly should have been selected based on merit not on the recommendatios of the BCCI Administration. He cannot face the Pakistan's fast bowlers. He has been selected over Kaif. Youth has lost to favouritism. Also Parthiv Patel proved a bad wicket keeper. Looking him ahead of Dinesh Karthik on the basis of domestic is not correct. Karthik is India's No. 1 before Dhoni and is younger than Dhoni. Also what happened to Balaji. He was such a success last time in Pakistan. It is good that Zahir has atlast found a place in the team. He is better than Agarkar. How come a mediocar performance of the recent test series against Srilakna has given Agarkar a change again. He too is Board favourite player.

God save Indian Cricket!!
by Anuj on Dec 24, 2005 09:17 PM  Permalink

A 25 yr old young and energetic cricketer making way for a 33 year old faltering cricketer with an attitude problem.

Heard Mr. Pawar saying that he wouldn't have any say in selection matters?? Sorry, Mr. Pawar, we never believed you but you surely proved our belief right!!

Yes, Mr. More you are answerable to the 100 crore people of India who treat cricket as religion and who are represented by Media. If you cannot handle it, please make way for someone who can do a better and unbiased job!! You are none better than a mere postman.

Sorry folks I cannot sympathize with Ganguly if he gets in the team by meeting BCCI president and not by performing well.

Sourav:Right Decision
by Subhash on Dec 24, 2005 09:10 PM  Permalink

Sourav's selection in the team for Pakistan indicates that now he can retire gracefully. This is a golden opportunity for him to bid farewell to active cricket and start giving back to the game to encourage new cricketers. He should work on the plan of cricket academy which should produce the cricketers with his winning mindset. Hope he does well in Pakistan and shows to the world that he is a fine cricketer and not a hurt Captain

ganguly's inclusion
by ganesh on Dec 24, 2005 08:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is horrifying to note that Ganguly is included into the team and reasons of BCCI is far from satisfactory. How can an underdog qualify in the team at the competitive level. Lots of political bulshitting has gone over Ganguly\'s inclusion into the team.It is well known that professionalism takes a backseat when political designs are put forward. This is setting a bad precedant. The message is anyone who can pull stings at the political level can remain in the team as long as he wants to, irrespective of performance....

Don't you think calling Ganguly an Underdog you are stating yourself to be something great out of this world with cricketng knowledge...first learn to respect someone who served the indian criket with full dedication & showed the glory of winning more than any of the upperdogs like you or any other captain...

Wheeling-dealing
by Frankly on Dec 24, 2005 08:47 PM  Permalink

So ultmately political clout and fanatical regional support prevailed and the guy, Kaif, who does not have anyone to champion his cause has been sent to cold storage.Gambhir inclusion and Parth Patel in but not Dinesh Karthik who has much more impressive credentials left question marks.
I don't have any hesitation to say that India is the country with corruption of every hue and colour.
Anyway Pakistan thinking tank would be happy with these selections.
