How Ganguly...
by v.sekar on Dec 25, 2005 03:50 PM  Permalink

Teaching fish to swim in water is being too naive.
BCCI selection committee might as well decide to provide a back up at each position, preferably so that ALL are appeaced! Wish the Indian Team all the best for a successful Pak Tour.

Is Ganguly back?
by raviprasad on Dec 25, 2005 03:23 PM  Permalink

In all the noise and din objectivity has taken a back seat.

Ganguly is a liability as a fielder. He has been sorted out by the opposition. He has definite limitations against short pitched stuff from the quicks which is evident from the soft dismissals. If he emerges succesful in the battle with Shaib,Rana and Sami in what will be baptimism by fire he will then have the confidence to handle the likes of Harmison,Flintoff and later the Brett Lees. Ntinis and Nels.
Failure in Pakistan will be his swan song.
We have had enough talk on the subject from pundits, purists and public. Now Ganguly's BAT alone will have to do the talking not merely to silence his critics but for his own self esteem.

Bad Days for Cricket
by suresh nair on Dec 25, 2005 02:50 PM  Permalink

Agreed Ganguly was a successful captain and brought lot of glories to indian cricket with fighting spirits by including timely youngsters. But Captains shold lead from front to motivate others and not just by scoring low scores,he has to go to domestic cricket, lot of practice on nets and gaining confidence. By including for pak tour,I think we are making scapegoat to kaif and politics also played important role, should politicians taken the same interest in other form of sports and had any idea to bring a single gold medal at olympics, some other sports also need great attention. Let us what happen next

Saurav's Party.
by Kaunain Shahidi on Dec 25, 2005 01:45 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Lets hope with Saurav's contribution India will over-power pakistan. As a captain Saurav has defeated pakistan in pakistan, would he like the same for Dravid, I have my own doubts, Saurav will only play for his place in the team so that he can earn another 1 crore next years and can donate some amount to NCP. Anyways...wishing the Indian Team a Good Luck.

Toughest Googly Ganguly faced
by Venkat Ramani on Dec 25, 2005 12:51 PM  Permalink

Merry Christmas Greg.

I still wonder, as millions of Cricket fans are , "Why is Ganguly selected again?" He was dropped like a hot brick 20 days ago. ok , he was hot headed, batted poorly and was demoralising players and locked horns with the coach. Sufficient reasons to be out. Now, it seems, the Board and the selection committee just Succumbed to pressure from the Bongs. Please dont forget, Sirs, players come from all over the country and any one would pull off a similar Emotional Blackmail to bring their blue eyed boy to the team ( to wear the blues ). What ever, I am praying that Dada performs not for his sake but for the Team and the country.

Dinesh Kaarthick deserves better deal
by Prasanth S on Dec 25, 2005 11:21 AM  Permalink

I think Dinesh Kaarthick deserves a place in the side, given his decent enough performance - both with glove and the bat - in the last Pakistan's tour of India.

In batting also, he is as good as Dhoni, but he haven't got enough chances in ODI. He should be given more chances to prove himself.

Gunguly included
by T.P. VEERARAGHAVAN on Dec 25, 2005 10:49 AM  Permalink

When Ganguly made 40 & 39 in the 2nd test with great
vengence the outsider Greg Chappal dropped him by influencing More and others. Whe selected More as the chairman ? Who was only very ordinary wicket keeper. I have been watching cricket for the past 40 years. May criketers career were spoilt by sheer politics.
When Gambir and Kaif were failing miserably they were
selected. Ganguly was not at all given bowling by Dravid Why? Since Ganguly is outspoken and has collided with chappal he has been unnecessarily treated very badly. God will punish them
