Congratulations with a twist!
by Rakesh on Aug 04, 2005 09:00 PM  Permalink

Congratulations Dada, on finally making it. You must be feeling very happy and relieved, but unfortunately we, the Indian fans can't say the same seeing your yesterday's shaky performance and selfish, self-indulgent, "playing for own record" kind of attitude. It took you 110 balls (18.2 overs) to score your paltry, painful 51 runs. To be frank, we fans were praying to God that you get out and clear the pitch to next batsman. Your 2.5 hours of so called "batting venture" in the field not only was plain torture to our nerves but also made a fatal blow to our run rate, from which India never recovered. For comparison, the SL vice Jayavardene facing similar number of balls, 114 to be precise scored 94. Also, as I'm writing this, England's Trescothick at Ashes 2nd test scores 90 off 102 balls, and mind you, He's playing a 5 Day TEST match, unlike your brilliant score at ODI yesterday! Now, that you have achieved your feat (10,000 runs) may I solemnly ask you to leave with your whatever leftover dignity and make room for younger, more talented batsmen waiting, before frustrated Indian fans invade the pitch and show you the EXIT.

Saurav Ganguly
by A.H. Venkatachalam on Aug 04, 2005 08:59 PM  Permalink

Heartiest felicitations. You deserved it. You have swum against the current to do this. You are the luckiest captain so far in India. Still, you were treated with scant respect. Keep it up Saurav. We are proud of you. Just don't you bother about critics and move forward with the quiet confidence which you only are capable of exuding. The loss, was theirs. The gain has been yours. Continue to be polite. But continue to be confident. My best wishes.

SOURAV GANGULY.......well,,,,,,,to me he is one of the very bests.......excellent captaincy, gutsy character, big sixes and effortless off-drives is what I associate with the south-paw.

I guess people shud be there to support him, rather then launching a diatribe. I Would have been more confident if I had the exact figures, but I read somewhere that Sourav is the batsman who reached the 5000, 6000 and 7000 run-marks, the fastest in the world. (As I said, not too sure about figures - may be it is 6000,7000 & 8000 or nething like that).

Well, this is to congratulate Sourav and to say thanks to him,,,,,bcoz I know I and everyone else has been disaapointed many a times to see India lose a match we expect it to win,,,,,but I thank Sourav, coz I guess without his brave decisions, dicey gambles and the spirit generated by the magic "team-huddle", the number of such matches would have been eveb more.

GO and BREAK more records man!!!
