sourav should come at number three in tests also
by p.s.sarath chandra on Aug 06, 2005 07:04 AM  Permalink

from the time sourav was appointed as captain of team india i am convinced about his abilities.i am of the firm opinion that he should remain as captain as long as possible.the main plight of indian cricket is that captains are made scapegoats for their team members performance.when sorav was leading india recently and on a losing note everyboby wants to sackhim from captains role.
here i am revealing an open secret about indian cricket.even if you bring stephen flemming or ponting or imran khan or steve waugh or any other great schrewd captain he would not last long.on the otherhand if you make balaji or zaheer or raina or any indian player as captain of australia they will become one of the most successful captainever in the history of cricket.
the main reason is, in other countries especially in australia each and every players knows his role veryclear and how to do it.there is no need of others telling them repeatedly.this makes captains role very easy and he can concentrate on his batting or bowlinb or keeping and teams strategy.but in souravs case he has been worrying for entire teams performance and that has been affecting his

You are a true Champ.
by Sudip Majumder on Aug 06, 2005 06:47 AM  Permalink

It takes champion like guts to fight against all the odds possible in spite of being the nest ever captain in Indian cricket history - media with all shades of parchiolism/cunningness/misleading, ex/current cricketers with hen brain; columnist/reportes who fashioned to be a cricketer but never passed 'gali cricket' ; your own cricket juniors whom you nurtured so much and of course your own form for the past 6 months (though I was never worried). Hats off.

Now rediff is going overboard.
Big deal if he crosses 10,000 or whatever ,the bottom line is he is till inconsistent. We have to put team ahead of personal milestones!!

yea, sourav is too great to be in the team...
by rishi on Aug 06, 2005 04:45 AM  Permalink

Am very happy with his performance.... 51 in 110 balls... Thats too good... with this kind of performance and reaching a mile stone <which is the only thing indians are famous for> of 10,000 ... i think indians dont need this kind of a miracle performance... but an ordinary performance which can help india to win matches... Am just waiting when this great personality<costing a match to meet his personal benefits> will be removed from the indian squad.....

disgraceful
by Rajiv Shorey on Aug 06, 2005 01:27 AM  Permalink

A most disgraceful, anti-india performance. Scoring 51 runs in 110 balls while opening and setting a target is criminally inept because at that rate you will make about 140 runs in 50 overs.

Ganguli now has scored 0, 4, 9, 18, 51 in last 5 Odis - its time to sack this disgraceful player.

Dada came back to form!!!!!
by Prasad on Aug 06, 2005 01:16 AM  Permalink

We have to remember the strike rate before we praise his come back and the fact is he could not save Indian team from defeat.

Should we really congratulate Dada. Let us keep all our congratulations till he does a remarkable scores; which is commonly expected from a world-class batsman like Dada.

All the best Dada.

Thank You

Prasad

That's selfish cricket
by PN on Aug 06, 2005 12:29 AM  Permalink

It was because of Sourav's selfish motif (of 10000 runs) that India lost the last match. Had he not wasted so many deliveries, India would not had been in a compromising situation. So, what's this congratulations and hype all about?
