In the first place, we as a nation went wrong in trusting 11 overpaid, over-idolised, under-confident individuals in carrying the hopes and dreams of the nation!
If you look at Matthew Hayden, Ponting, Gibbs, etc.. batting you know what confidence in your self and your team is all about. This team of paper tigers had no self belief (anyway, how can paper tigers have self-belief?) as was evident in their body lanuage against Srilanka.
When a person like young blood like Yuvraj, whose position in the team is as of now secure, talks of pressure before the Srilanka match, we knew we had lost the match even before it had begun! These bunch of guys were not supposed to be under pressure but to put the other team under pressure. That is self-belief!
We do not lack talent, there is nothing wrong with the coach - once having fielded the team, it is for the 11 to perform. They didn't!
It is not surprising as indian team is not good enough to win world cup. It was just expectations of indians to see their team to win world cup. after seeeing Australia vers South Africa match you can understand easly where we are? Prepare better for next world cup. Take young players. Senior player should only play test matches. Make Mohd. Kaif captain. Other players may be: Robin, Kartik, Raina, Yubraj, Dhoni, Pius Chwala, Harbhajan, Irfan, Munaf, Sreshant.
Most responsible person is Captain Rahul Dravid. he could not motivate the team at the time of pressure, he failed to do so in the World Cup. Rahul Dravid phonned Mr. Power before Srilanka Match! If he is on pressure, how could he motivate the others?
I think simple reason is "Indian cricket team" was not good enough to go to super eight. I think focus should be on future and finding right talent and plan to nurture them.
blaming the individuals & coach r useless...bcci should think about future of indiancricket & give oppurtunities to ranji players for international games. if the senior players is replaced then the bcci members(niranjanshah,pawar,kiranmore,vengasarkar) should also be changed justlike pakistanicricket. the bcci members also had earned millions of rupees by the indian players.the public should reacted more against board.india failed to be part of super8 is heart breaking...but still india is a better side (batting/bowling) than australia or others.bcos of poor planning , worst partnerships & running between wickets india failed to get selected. it would be fine if india had won worldcup under worldclasss players like sachin,dravid ,ganguly,kumble.probably they would be out of teamindia in future games.sad thing for us is after losing, sachin&dravid had cried loudly in dressingroom.its a good decision from board that india will have 2 teams(senior/juniours). i predict nz(kiwis) will win the worldcup . they improved alot after winning aus,sa,westindies in last season. lets support kiwis -a non worldcup winning nation.
